I'm a new guy. Not to RC. I have a long career of flying RC, sailing RC, Submarine RC, Slotcars, scratch building all kinds of models for film, TV, museums, and me. I've worked for 45 years making monsters and creatures for films such as Star Trek, Ghost Busters and more. So I know my way around a model and then some. But I am nothing but a newb when it comes to RC cars. And so far I'm not terrible in a smooth asphalt parking lot but I have a long way to go!
I joined the Roadrunners recently. The track is 15 minutes from my house in Port Hueneme but I have yet to go over there with my busy schedule at my studio in Ventura. I have managed to build this F2 class 312T3 as a practice car. I'm putting rubber tires on it this week if I can find the correct ones. First set from Amain Hobbies fit the rear but the fronts did not fit the bearings.

The dirt is from the road. I've been driving her hard and she handles quite well.
Next up I got this F104 Pro 11 for what I hope will be my entry into UF1. I got the Hobbywing zero timing 25.5T combo for it. Some 5000mah 2c li-polys. I'm assuming the included rubber tires are suitable. I need to learn more about that.

I'm going to try and get out there at the track this week for some practice. Looking forward to meeting you and learning from you. BTW I had an old 2.4 gig controller but got a brand new Rugged Spektrum radio. I'm so used to sticks I'm finding a bit of a challenge to get use to the wheel. I tend to turn the controller on it's side for now, look back and over my shoulder coming at me until my brain kicks into auto mode.
I'm in my late 60's now but still a kid at heart with the most toys. So when I die I win! LOL!

I finished them both and have been running at the track. After years of flying Rc airplanes and running RC sailboats I did not find it easy. It took 4 times out to the track before I could run it smoothly and now I'm working on speed.
Here's the two cars. I'll be out there next week for more practice.

Tech Adept

Used to race out there in the early 2000s. Gas sprints mostly. Glad to see the place is still around!
