Glen, it would nice it you would tell us whats really going on. I understand theres a club and not all of us are members, but we're all concerned about loosing the the only track in the area. Please tell us what the problem really is, and stop us from guessing. Pinoy69racer is right, you're making the problem worse by reacting this way and on top of that not telling us whats going on.

Im just a conerned racer.

I have been up with the guys for 3 nights straight and I am at work right now, after some thought, I have to agree that it is not fair for those who have been doing the right things all along and I really want to thank Bill Culver for the kind worrds that really made me think twice.

I will post what we have come up with no later than the end of the week, we are putting some last minute finishing touches on the new decisions and please guys, no more emails, phone calls, and knocking on my house door at all hours.

You will see the decisions at the end of the week. Thank you to all who were/are concerned. Billy...PLEASE do not cancel the series, we are all looking forwards to that racing.

I know I'm not one to get out and race religiously, but..
This might have been the wake up call we all needed. Thanks Glen. Reguardless of all our opinions you've been the one who stepped up to run this club and keep our hobby alive in so cal, where everyone else has faded away, so I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we will humbally and willingly abide by you and the clubs rules and enforcements

***Bill C.... See, we need u in Cali. Don't leave us!! *** I would say run for congress, but with with your criminal record,.....well....

It is only my opinion. If you impound radio or car then how to control stuff.

We will get side negative effect like as lost or etc.

I think deposit money is better than that. around 20bucks or more.

After tear down track and return money. If driver leave track before fininshing race then he/she lose money.

Anyway,

We love the club and wish race again with fun...

Default Hired help

I've suggested to RAMS club a couple times and don't think I was taken seriously. If track labor is a problem or you need some more help throughout the day... Hire a couple dudes from Home Depot. If there are plenty of signups, absorbing the cost of a helper or two for the day should be basic. Not to mention, they'd be stoked to have such a cushy gig for the day. I am sure you can buy em lunch and get help on everything from track setup and teardown, turnmarshalling, truing tires, painting boards, you name it. Most of that stuff would be chill for a worker compared to the other crappy jobs they get a lot of times. Who knows, the following Sunday you may have guys lined up eager to help

Just trying to think outside the box here

It’s a tough decision to make, and you might lose a racer or two but that’s the racers decision that they have made not to be part of the club is to help. Why is everybody saying hire somebody, charge the racers extra. I understand but not one person is saying what should really happen, everybody should help because it your track and club, that’s what should happen. If you drive more than two or three hours then maybe may $10 extra not to put up the track, but within that time you must be there to help tearing down or putting up the track. Everybody seems to be trying to get out of work and that’s how all the clubs get messed up. Even if you join the club or not, you race there so it is you duty to help with what is needed, like it or not, you help or stay home. If you’re going to hit the wallet, hit the wallet for $20.00 for not putting up or tearing down the track. Racer will pay the money, you can even split the money with guys that stayed later to help and you don’t need to hire anybody, I stay later for $60 or so dollars each person or if you or 3 or 4 others guys stay, you can make hundreds of dollars each to put up the track. It’s the racers / clubs track so everybody be part of it and put up the track or tear down the track, it’s that easy. Hiring somebody would be nice, but you can afford that many guys to put up/ tear down and stay there all day, unless you pay them a hundred dollars plus each.
All locals pay $20.00 if they are within the 2 or so hours if they choose not to help and if you help then this doesn’t cost more money out of your pocket to participate in your job duty as a club racer. if you choose not to participate then it’s worth the $20.00, then pay it.

There's a lot of interesting suggestions about hiring people etc. but the real truth is exactly what YLLIB is saying. The club members SHOULD be willing to help do the work. And when we've had that kind of cooperation, it literally takes only 10 minutes to tear the whole track down --and another 10 to put it all away in the trailer. When it's left up to only 3 or 4 guys--it can take hours!!
If you have 20 people taking down the boards etc--and that's not very many considering all the racers we have on a race day-- it takes mere minutes to get it done. I like the simple--Nitro guys run last--and there's an IMPOUND for your cars/ radios until the track is down. It's simple, and it would work.
We'll look forward to whatever you suggest Glenn, and I know that many times people complain about the races running late ---most of the time it's because we are WAITING to get turn marshall's out to the track for the next race to start. Maybe each heat needs to be impounded until the next race has been run-- then immediately turn marshall before you take your stuff back to the pits. I do know that no one else is offering to step up and run the races for you.
I think you do a great job given the current situation with the "help" from the club.
Let's work together AND race together!!

All this talk about charging extra money may be okay for us hardcore chronies who have a lot of money already tied up into this hobby. However, if you haven't noticed, turnout is somewhat low. Especially on club races. Last year Glen had announced several times that he would like to see some newbies come out and run their nitro bashers on club days. He's tried to appeal to those GT8 guys both nitro and electric and yet none have come out.

For those people, seeing all our high dollar competition oriented stuff is initimidating. Now to impose an additional cost on top of the regular $20 entry fee would just tell them to go away forever.

BTW, by "chronies", I mean you and me and everyone who has posted here. I am one of those non-religious racers but I am a familiar face in RC. Everyone has said that this hobby needs fresh blood and our niche here is not getting it. As to the comment about pay or stay home, those who don't pay will go elsewhere that doesn't require the extra charge to setup or tear down. Although it may not be nitro, there are two other tracks available that doesn't require setup/ teardown or extra equipment for someone interested in RC to come out and play.

For one thing those are permanent tracks so no work involved and two your saying we would be charging extra for you to race, there is no extra charging UNLESS you choose not to help to participate. If you choose just to having fun and do not want to help that's even more crazy. It has nothing to do with if you are a total racer or a fun racer; it is being with your friends, racing and helping keep a club together. If you cannot participate in keep the club together then you should stay home. If and when you get new racers, then you let them know what is expected of them to race at a club, it's all about respect and communications with everyone. Look at it this way if you choose to help to put up or tear down the track and you get 70 racers and 10 only choose not to pay and help and 60 choose to pay the $20.00 because of non paticipation that is $1,200.00. If you split that between the 10 guys that can put up the track in 30min, you will get $120.00 for 30 minutes worth of work, WOW, no brainer $240 a hour....

You're starting to make this sound like some sort of pyramid scheme. That's no way to run a club and with those kind of numbers you propose at stake, eventually there will be fights. When you stack more "expectations" on the new participants, you'll only result in scaring them away and seek RC in other venues. This is no way to grow the hobby especially in our niche.
