Could be 100% wrong with the following, so take it as 'some guy on the internet said...'.
I believe the same person (Dennis Racine) held/holds registration for both the .net and .com domain names of RCRACING. The .com iteration has had a message about being available for purchase for several years now:

Thanks to everyone who helped make this site possible over the years. I think we started this site in 1996 or 1997 and it's been a ton of fun, but as I've been racing real cars over the last 10 years I just don't have time to invest in this site and the awesome sport of R/C Racing anymore. I will be keeping the site up for the time being until I find a buyer. Since my company does webhosting it doesn't cost me anythign directly to keep the site going, I just think it's time for someone to take it over to keep it moving forward.
