Default Trader asking to be paid via PayPal gift in text messages.

Other then refusing. What else should happen? Don't want him to try this with someone else.

Nope. Kinda torn as to whether to report or not.

Report it, don't EVER pay by gift, and walk away.

Personally if I can't pay by Paypal, I'm not biting.

I've been asked too, and I just said sorry I don't send money as a gift, if he has a problem with that just don't deal with him.once you send money as a gift there is a high chance that you don't get anything in return, and there is no way you can start a claim with PayPal.

You and guys like you are part of the problem. I can't help try and keep people "safe" unless you report these people to me.

Sorry to say it but, you're another example of hurting more than your helping.

I know it's against the rules but I was asked to do this twice. I felt neither was a reportable offense.

For the first, I hammered to seller on the price and he was just trying to maximize $. I told him no, it was against the rules and that I'd have no protection. He agreed and I paid as normal. This seller had a lot of feedback and posts here regularly.

For the second, there was something free being given away and the $ was to cover shipping. I previously dealt with the seller in the past so I feel that it was an exemption.

As a seller, I was paid as a gift by a first time buyer. I DID NOT request that but I also didn't refund and have them resend. I sent the item agreed to and made sure the buyer was satisfied. Also informed them why they shouldn't send $ as a gift in the future.

I wish we could hand out 1-day suspensions for those that update buy/sell threads saying sold!

Nothing wrong with that. I hate inquiring about an item and then get a reply that says "Sold 5 days ago"!!! Too lazy to update the thread?

Well, to be clear, are we talking about an edit to a FS post, or another bump?

If you don't bump the thread (you simply edit an existing post), what is the harm? If you actually bump the thread just to post "sold", well that is basically a completely unnecessary bumping of a thread.

I edit my posts in this order: for sale---> pending---> sold. I think that keeps things in decent order.

YES IT IS! WTF is the point of bumping your thread just to tell everyone it's SOLD. That's not really a question, because no matter what crazy, idiotic, hair brain reason you try to give me. YOU'RE WRONG!!

Yup, that's why I edit the thread, instead of adding another post to it. It's pointless to put your FS thread back at the top, when there is no longer anything for sale .

I agree, though I have posted SOLD to bump the thread. Some people here will continue to ask if the item is still available unless you have a separate post that says SOLD in big letters.

Sometimes that doesn't even get the point across.

If you edit your first, and most recent post to say SOLD, I don't know why an issue would arise.

If you get a pm about it, either ignore or ask them to re-read the thread... That's just my take though.
