Default Situation, what to do?

So I sold my radio and reciever and shipped it usps with tracking. Packed it up with paper and plastic so the radio wouldn't bounce around and bubble wrapped the reciever. Shipped it on the 9th and it got delivered on the 11th of September. I put insurance on it too.Well up until 10/1 I had heard nothing from the buyer and got no feedback. But on that day the private message I got was saying there was no receiver and the package was crap pretty much. I know the reciever was in there and it was packed well. I have good feedback and have never had a issue before until now, also I'm no longer in the hobby. The buyer has 4 trader ratings all good from what I seen. The reason why I'm posting is honestly I don't know how to go about this. It seems wierd unless the mail carrier destroyed the box but I never had any problems with usps. Do I refund him and be out a reciever and hope my radio is still in good condition or what else? Any feedback would be great. The buyer was rus101272

So he received the package on the 11th and didn't think it necessary or important to PM you to let you know that "the receiver was missing"??? Sorry but that sounds like a massive load to me and I would be careful what you offer or promise that guy.

Chances are that he threw something away but those chances are low because no one in their right mind throws anything away until they've confirmed that everything is present and accounted for. Also if there was an issue, the buyer should have contacted you immediately, not wait almost an entire month.

Sounds like buyers remorse to me which isn't your problem. I would however like to hear the other half the story as well. Do you have the link to the original ad?

No way ANY buyer would wait 3 weeks to say something was missing. Most would be the MINUTE they opened the package and saw something missing. And if packaging was damaged in any way there would be pictures of that damage.

Sounds like another scammer buyer trying to get something for nothing.

rus101272 needs to get involved with this conversation.

No way would I refund anything after that much time has lapsed.

Here is our private messaging and the link of the add. The first pm of the missing reciever was on the 1st and the last pm was the 4th. Haven't responded yet..

As you can see the reciever is in the photo. I have no use for it to keep it and I'm in no way a scammer. There was a lot of paper and bags and material to keep the radio secure in that box. That tiny reciever was wrapped in bubble wrap right beside the radio.

Thanks for the responses and help guys. I don't think I'm in the wrong here and have not promised him anything. I just don't understand why wait? So I sent him a pm trying to get the whole story. My pm...

usps I have no faith in anymore shipped a 22-4 and other items the box content magically disappeared it was empty box when it got to buyer he declined package. USPS said they would ship box back never got "Empty box" after it said was shipped back so I ate $500 on everything in box and USPS does not stand by there insurance policy at all been 9 months they still dispute it after I paid extra to cover it.

Good that you asked for a pic. I'd want a pic of the box myself if I was in that situation.

Regardless how well/poor USPS works, the buyer did receive the package. Most people open their package the day they receive it. If he waited this long to inspect the package then he is really dumb, or is trying to scam you. In either case enough time has passed to relinquish the sellers responsibility.

I also agree its probably buyers remorse. He might of found a better deal out there, and is taking a shot in the dark at getting his money back. A PM cost nothing, so he doesnt have nothing to lose.

Really? Those are the only two possibilities?

I'm not defending the buyer. I agree that something just doesn't sound right with the time lapse, but without hearing his explanation, I can't really make a judgement. But I can, however, tell you that it's possible that there is some other explanation besides them guy being "really dumb" or a "scammer". Not very likely, but it's possible.
