just repling to the moderator comment....
if you have the ability to lock the thread seems like a easy fix. not to mention its not hard to look through every new forsale thread put up there is only about 20 new ones per day at most. I just never see any of the mods around that do anything

you must be kidding me.....if you only bump your thread once a day it would be on page 6....at the end...

there are far too many threads for us to watch...if you think otherwise, you are wrong....

oh, and did you see the moderator move this thread where it belongs????

The moderators that are active on this forum do a good job. Like he said there is so much base for them to cover and IMO not enough mods (active at least). I think they need to put a good 4-5 new mods on. At least. Any time Ive ever had a issue, Ive pm'ed them and its been cleared up pretty quick.

Hi guys

lots of good input here.

I've been buying and selling RC gear on the web since I found out about the first RC forums I remember, namely TechTalk and rcracing.... not one deal went sour - this is the first one. I trusted the guy because his prices were fair if not a really great deal , and because the stuff he was selling made sense, was pretty rare and showed a somewhat "proper" rc culture (I "bought" him a RC10DS Qualifier and a new built yokomo M2Pro if I remember well). This didn't really look like the usual "NiB Losi Eight - $99 shipped!" scam.

All in all, a small part of me still believes this was an "honest" seller and something really happened to the guy (the few times I've ended in hospitals myself, it wasn't really planned you know) right after I wired the $$$. Maybe that's my way to try to convince myself I'm not a complete moron for dealing with him

I fully agree it is not the moderators' job to control the "for sale" forum - we are grown ups here and should do our homework before we purchase anything.

I do however agree that one should be a member of Rctech, with a sufficient number of meaningful posts (say, 50 posts with at least 50 words) before one can post on the "for sale" forum.

COD would have been great... but I'm overseas and that would have costed me an arm and a leg, so I took the risk... sometimes you win, sometimes you loose.

New users - don't let yourselves be discouraged by such lame stories as mine - again, in 10yrs of buying rcgear from personal sales, this is the first time such a thing happens to me. Most of the folks in the RC world are good people

Paul

the problem with that type of idea, 50 post 50 words is, you get a thread, with 50 posts of 50 words... ppl will try and circumvent the rules....

i understand ppls frustrations.....but if a guy is going to scam you, it will happen...all you can do as a buyer is be carefull, and investigate the sellor
