The package tracking goes dead when boarder services holds it for inspection. Sometimes it takes a week and has been 3-5 in the past. If you paid the cheapest shipping possible it get held. If you paid for a timed delivery date(more expensive) you skip the line up and get inspected that day.

Once it hits or crosses the border the package can be tracked by the customs form number on the Canadian side, eh. So if you forward that number to the buyer he can track it but it doesn't speed it up any.
