Default How to make a purchase when new here?

Hello,

I found this site while reading through some posts on Reddit. After scouring ebay for a few weeks trying to score a decently priced Stampede (used 4x4 brushless) for me and my son to play around with I realized it wasnt going to happen there. So I wind up here at RCtech, and to my surprise I find exactly what I am looking for, only the seller wont even acknowledge I exist, looking at you name/removed I made a post on the for sale thread, and also sent a email by the site. I read later that sending email is not good? I made another post, and this time sent a PM, nothing...crickets. Did I do something wrong, I never thought finding a RC truck would prove to be so difficult. Its just frustrating to think I've finally found what I've been looking for in a like new truck and cant even get a reply. Will all sellers look at new members like this?

thanks

It might be that you're new and he's being cautious of scammers. I'd try again, maybe leave a pm with your number?

If I, as a seller, get a pm from someone with their phone number i'm ignoring that as well. None of you need my number and I dont need yours. Its very possible that the seller just doesnt want to sell to a new member with 2 posts. If it were me, i would at least send a message stating that, but thats not everyone.

The problem with phone numbers is if you talk to the guy, work out a deal, then get screwed....there is zero paper trail. You communicate through pm's and those cna be sent to paypal etc to back up your case.

Unfortunately the sellers post is almost 2 years old. He probably isnít online that often and good chance itís not available anymore. One thing for sure is to be patient, making angry comments will not help you as buyers and sellers will search you and read previous comments. Post in the want to buy section.

My advise would be to stay patient and keep looking. The right deal will come along some day.

Another tip is to watch out for the WTB scams and make sure you always pay through "Goods and Services" in paypal.

Exclamation Establish yourself

Sorry to hear you're having a hard time buying. Most members in here would be happy to sell their stuff to anyone, but I also understand why people are reluctant to sell to new members requesting to buy a high dollar item (like $100+ in this case).
I've even seen new members here trying to sell high dollar items (we're talking like $600 or even $1000 items), that I would be scared myself to buy.
Might want to look at medium priced items that you'll probably need later down the road. Something that you don't have to throw a lot of money at (bodies, decals, wire). Just something small to help you establish yourself in here. If you're on Fleecebay, might even post your ID, so people could see your history of being a buyer or seller.

Appreciate all the reply's. I did find another truck I was interested in, but it had already sold.

What is a WTB scam?

What about dealing with someone over the phone, had contacted someone and they sent me their phone number. Not too sure about that, not saying the guy is trying anything funny. But at least this way there is some sort of paper trail.

I guess I'll keep hunting, would really love a arrma kraton :P

Thanks again everyone.

PS couldnt reply until this morning, being new my posts were limited.

Yes. I started that because someone had contacted me saying they had something I was looking for. Sounded very fishy though and as you will read there are certain things to be aware of when someone contacts you like that.
