If you're wanting to race in stock 17.5 the speedy has to be in blinky mode. As for the motor timing, you can adjust it as much as you want or as much as the car can take without overheating. It'll depend a fair bit on what gearing you're also running.
Hope that helps a bit.

Cheers,
Liam.

Hey Liam,

Thanks for the reply, FDR is 5.3. blinky mode? Sorry it’s been awhile, is that no boost etc on the esc?

Cheers,
Lorensze

Hey mate, yeah, blinky mode is no programed boost or timing in the esc. Punch is allowed.
As for timing, best to get a few different sizes and a temp gun, and play around with different combinations. Just keep checking the motor after 5min runs to make sure its not getting too hot (60 degrees - can anyone else clarify this?)

Liam.

Page 37 of 44 January 1, 2013 AARCMCC EP Offroad Tehnical Rules state :-

"11 ELECTRONIC SPEED CONTROLLERS (ESCS) FOR STOCK AND 10.5 BL CLASSES
The AARCMCC Approved EP Offroad ESC List automatically includes those ESCs appearing on the ROAR Approved Non-Timing ESC List [http://www.roarracing.com/?page_id=737] approved 30 days prior to the sanctioned event, as well as those on the AARCMCC Approved ESC List – separate to this document [http://www.aarcmcc.org/docs/AARCMCC Stock Spec ESC List - EP OFR.pdf] – which includes extra locally approved ESCs.
Local distributors can apply to AARCMCC for Australian certification under specific conditions.
11.1.1 Speed controllers eligible for Stock classes must provide zero timing advance, along with disabling advanced motor control functions (i.e. Boost, Cheat Mode, Turbo, etc). When the "0 Boost" profile is enabled, it shall be indicated by a blinking LED while the ESC is armed and in neutral position. The commutation sequence is limited to "6-step" type and commutation of the speed control must follow the motors hall sensor signals 1:1, e.g. no shifted timing (no matter if advanced or retarded) is allowed at any RPM.
11.1.2 Approved ESCs that meets the “0 Boost” parameters set out above, and appear on the AARCMCC approved list, are eligible for use.
11.1.3 The Organiser and AARCMCC Officials may check the legality of a competitor’s ESC at any time during a sanctioned event."

Although club racing doesn't usually adhere to the rules , if you intend to maybe race at major meetings in the future it may be wise to follow the guidelines now - and not get caught out at scrutineering.

Just a thought.......

And your set up is legal - The LRP SXX V.2 has the blinky mode capability, and is approved.

My son has a LRP Sphere which can/will not blink? Seems to be on Roar list? I'm easily confused though? Maybe I missed something

Best check with Paul (Berzerk) and/or AARCMCC but if yours is the LRP LRP80500 Sphere Brushless you don't have to do anything. It doesn't have advanced timing or boost or anything like that. You should be able to just plug it in and play but as I said, best to check with Paul and/or ARRCMCC.

We won't be making the club day tomorrow even if the weather holds out - lots more prep to do on the cars for Keilor - Then knowing my luck, Keilor will be rained out!

I'll be there in the morning, just to see what the weather does. If it holds off, it'll be totally worth it
