The only thing worries me, that if I get it, I will probably going to wreck it. There's no point putting a P-plater into Formula 1 car.
NO!!!!!!!!!

Duratraxx Evader BX or Sportwerks Raven BX

The rustler is a complete pile of sh&*t, and is a toy, rather than a comp car (not that theres anything wrong with that) but even as a toy, I think they are rubbish

You can pick up either of the above for brand new for around the $300 (with everything - car radio motor charger) mark if you shop around. I prefer the Evader, as it is based on a Losi car and is easy to make go and handle using the bits that come on it (except rear tyres - they are just for bashing around)

Just remeber you will need to also allow for a class motor and the relevant pinion, such as 540 or stock.

Cheers

If I were to buy a ready-to-run 2WD buggy I would buy a Sportswerks Raven........for $300 you get a car that is based on the Associated B4 , comes with all the bits to get going (even a battery!!) and you can build it up into a true racecar.......

Cheers

That would have to be the funniest thing I've ever heard.

If you want to go slow, listen to Willabong.................Green slime in the diff, now I was under the impression that Stealth lube was the choice of the Team, as mentioned in the manual.

Why do people insist on using lower case I??????

As for the Raven being based on a B4........The only thing it has in common is the fact it's a 1/10 scale. Not to detract on it's value though, a great entry level package. Speaking of which, Luke down at Early Model Kits and Hobbies has some great RTR kits, the Phoenix Bx and B4 RTR's are excellent entry level buggy

johnny-g,

Holeshots/X2000s are the tire of choice, depending on track temperature.

Ant,

Got some fast 19 turns coming, are you game?

I tend to agree with The Fuhrer here, the B4 RTR is a great concept and gives the entry level driver a good base to start racing and then a good set up to build on once the person is ready to continue their involvment in the sport/hobby.
Yes I must agree, support your local hobby shops, they are there for us and we need to keep them going so they can continue their support of us the racers.

Hey Furher

If there's a few people up for 19t, count me in. I'll go with the flow motor class wise, I just like the 4wd and don't want the expense of mod, so it's stock/19t or 540

And I want to get better with it (especially after Sunday!!)

Hey Lord Burner,

If you can afford the RTR B4, go for it. They are a great machine too, but cost a little more than a raven or an evader.

I find my evader to be a good reliable car that I can do well with, and for $350 (my wife bought it from my LHS and didn't shop around) less the 75 bucks I sold the radio and charger for, it has been cheap motoring.

They also guarantee the stress parts on it for a year - if it breaks they give you new parts - no questions asked. I've broken a rear shock tower and a rear caster block. No problem, swapped them over straight away.

That sort of thing is a good reason to buy local.

All the shops listed on the shops page of the site support the club, and will be happy to talk you through your budget and options.

Cheers

Thanks for valuable advice, guys. First I need to decide if I want to get into it. Will anything be happening at Knox this Sunday? I'd like to watch some races.

awww cmon thats a bit harsh

in all seriousness, i do thank Will and a few other guys down at knox for the input and advice they have given me the last couple of times i have been down there to watch.

Very friendly bunch of people, in can be a bit daunting getting into something completely new.

Also in regards to supporting the local shops. I agree totally and have started buying bits and pieces from various local shops, my gear was initially all bought out of the U.S as my father works overseas and is payed in U.S $$ and was bought as a gift.
but from now on i will be doing my bit supporting the local guys.

Hey Guys,

Deano here,

Just sending out the call to buggy drivers across Melbourne.

We have the second RCRacer enduro coming up in October and we still need Buggy drivers. It's Sunday the 7th (Bathurst is on and we will have a TV set up) and there are teams looking for buggy drivers.

It's 19t motors only and you will be running on road at Lilydale.

There is more info here: http://www.rcracer.com.au/forum/view...?p=62272#62272

It would be great to get some of the Keilor and Knox guys down to the track!
