That's what I am going to do. Organising numbers at the moment.

Go to an electronic repair shop or two-way radio repair shop, they should have a CRO as it would be standard equipment for them. Ask them to give you there opinion on your PS for what you are using it for......

PS> Well stabilised power supplies cost money, but do you really require all that control for the devices you are hanging off it? (That is what you really need to know)......

I measured the voltage drop of the power supply yesterday when testing.

At 17 amps the unit dropped around 0.15 volt when at no load it was 13.768

Not bad

I will whack it on a CRO today at work and get some photos.

Okay
Some videos to show everyone the output of these power supply.

I have hooked it up to the CRO with AC coupling, this allows us to see the noise at any DC Voltage.
I am on 0.5 volt per major division.

The DC voltage is measured by the meter on the left and the DC current by the meter at the bottom.

I have got two videos, the first is the $99 switch mode supply and the second is a Lab power supply costing around 5 times as much. The Lab supply can only deliver around 5.5 amp reliably so take this into consideration.

Switch Mode

Transformer Lab Supply

Have fun

Weight and Measurements I can get for you tonight.

Tabor, can we have the results done in layman's terms. As in: Is the $99 power supply any good?

OK how about this

For the price you are not going to get much better.

The biggest problem with these supplies is the heat, upgrade the fan on the rear to get rid of excess heat.

If you are going pull alot of high current rewire the fan to run directly from the supply output so it is on all the time.

Didnt even think about the name, sorry. Changed

I went to jaycar a few weeks back with someone buying a new powersupply and was advised not to buy it as its not suitable for charger rc car batteries. Im no great electrical mastermind so my memory of the conversation isnt so great but it was said some people tried it and found it not to be very suited to the job due to something not being constant it was all over the place (my very technical description as you can see) IMO best to stick to the tried and proved powertech 15 amp

thanks for teh Vids tabor...would you consider its power output to be relatively clean? I saw the graph change as the load increased, but I dont know how much noise was introduced.

Would you consider it to be reliable to be loaded up with 15-20 amps

2 chargers, much more tire warmers and a motor cooler?

well the voltage looks quite choppy with the jaycar switch mode one. I emailed them, the weight of the unit is 1.55 kg

I am selling my powertech transformer 15A to a friend so i can get a stichmode one. I am looking at the team much more one 20A, looks sick and small profile too. Anyone got an issue with those? They cost a lot more than the jaycar one, but is the voltage still choppy?
