hey marc try driving consistantly this is what 540 is ment for. not going fast and blitzing the field (trent!!). the fk is fine what Davo means is the rear ball cups for the upper turnbuckly links. this will give you more traction. but once again as josh said a kit fk with a good driver is what is fast.

try to be that driver!!(ahhh.....i sound as wise a yoda!!! )

Default Hi

Hi,

Try this setup for TO27's with med insert.

Dark blue springs all round
1 and 4 piston hole
-1 camber all round
2mm toe in on the rear
1mm toe out in the front
Tight diff
Standard shock positions

I had that setup with the XRC 3mm chassis so it may be abit hard with the 2.5mm so try going a little softer if it dont work.

This setup works great at alot of tracks in Victoria, i unno how well it will work up their but have ago, great and fast setup.

Cheers, Davo

i found some alloy shocks in my box that i bought 4 my xray t1r but never used them. My shocks needed to be redone since i bought the car used and i didnt touch anything except for the springs. One of the links for the shock to attach to the suspension was cracked in half and i didn't relise it until i toook the whole car apart. Also i noticed that i have 2 slightly bent driveshafts. Does this make a diffrence to the control of the car, or less speed. And i do have ball links at the back of my car i just realised.

Everytime i race i go well in the heats, then break my car or come last in the final. i'll try and be consistant but for now i have to save up for some new rubber tires.

Thnaks for all your opinions, more are still welcome!!!

Regards Marc

maybe the 540J that u have is not that good. lube it and maybe run it backward for a while and see if the top speed improve.

Xrc 3mm thick chasis.
Xray flexable upper deck
Precut bumper
precut bumper holder

Im thinking of puting alloy shock bodys but what other hopups can make it go faster and smoother.

I need to improve on my driving but i just wana know what can make your car go faster and smoother.

Thanks Marc
get rid of the 3 mill chasi, and put the original back on. get the role center mounts, and get some skill. should make for a good package,

would bent drive shafts slow down the car? Also, like like driving with the 3mm chasis than the stock one. But i brought the car used so to get the stock chasis i would have to buy it. I agree with Mad Mackem. I went on Castle hill raceway's website and look at my qualifying. some times i have had the fastest time but my consistancy was off the charts!!! Ill try to set a pace and not OVERDRIVE my car into a wall or a on coming car.

your car is fine marc, just use the setup I gave you,

the most important thing to work on is your consistancy, if it is not lower than 0.5 all the time then you are wasting your time looking for more speed IMO.

I would not worry too much about bent shaft drives,

how bent are they if its only slight then dont worry about it for 540 if its a bit more then slight you could try gently tapping them back into shape

Default car

Hi,

To be honest with you, bent drive shafts dont really slow the car down, for 540 the best thing to do is not hit anything and if you want to go fast run your motor in properly and make sure your car is very free (bearings).
