Jason, the track for all classes on Sunday will be the old short track but will go back out to the sweeper before returning to the front straight. It is about a 290m lap and will take a little more than 9 secs.

Could anyone give me a good starting point for spur and pinion size for a 12th scale running 10.5 at Xray raceway (trackside rc).

Depending on tyre size, 39/78 works well for me (64 pitch). That gives a rollout of about 70mm with 44mm tyres. Bigger tyres, go for a smaller pinion or 80t spur. Smaller tyres, go for a 40t pinion.

If you're unsure, maybe start a bit shorter than that, and bring a couple of options. I've run a rollout down about 67mm on the old layout and didn't notice any speed difference (my Hobbywing motor seems quite tolerant).

Another good day of racing 1/12 at England Park Raceway yesterday. Only a small field, but some tight racing. Big gearing is the order of the day, with Snappa showing us the way for speed as usual.

The track is very easy on the cars. After 3 qualifiers, I'd only worn 1mm off my rear tyres (Ulti J softs). Gotta be happy with that!

Next race day is Saturday, April 9. So bring em out!

Do you run 10.5turn in the 12th scale out there and what sort of gear ratio do you need to run on that track?

Yep, 10.5t blinky.

I ended up with 42/76 gearing and 45mm tyres at the end of the night. I'd probably run slightly lower gearing during the day (to keep the heat under control), although my motor was never really hot.

The Ulti tyres straight out of the packet worked well for size and handling.
