Default TAMWORTH CUP WRAP UP

Re-posted from SEQ12thScale on facebook, Follow them there and keep up todate on what is happening with 12th scale in South East QLD.

The Wash Up.

Let me start by saying, that the Tamworth Cup was an awesome event. They are a tiny little club who punch well above their weight to put on one of the best events in the country.

The club goes out of its way to make you feel welcomed and everything from the track prep to what the canteen serves was top notch. Well done guys, cant wait to come back down next year.

In the QLD v NSW, NSW won the trophy by about 100 points.

The weekend was one of mixed fortunes for us, we all struggled with the track somewhat, the conditions, our cars and our driving at various times over the weekend. Tim Weier qualified 2nd, (finishing 4th) and Johnny 3rd (finishing 4th) but neither could turn that into a trophy with various mishaps in different parts of the 3 finals.

I struggled all day Sat trying to get my cars to work, with a bit of help from Tim Weier with shock tuning and some advice and guidance from Daniel Cotton and Alex Tyson I got the cars to run and in the finals ran ok. At one point racing with Lance Nunn and Tim Philips for 4 or 5 laps before i got nervous and pulled over for them. I was happy.

Snappa was in the same boat, it took him all weekend to get himself sorted out and in the last few laps of the 2nd Eurostock final got his crap sorted out and was driving well and in the last final drove the best he had all weekend taking to up to Lance and Tim P and putting on a good performance.

Young Mason was over awed by the experience, but slowly and surely improved all weekend in both 12th and 21.5.

The weekend was OWNED by Greg Brooks, TQ and flag to flag wins in all finals in both Eurostock and Mod. He was a machineand gave us all a good schooling.

Tim had a moral victory in having the fastest lap time of the day congrats guys.

Greg Brooks 1st (Left) Dallas Gardiner 2nd (Right)

Final Results

Best times of the day, Tim with a moral victory here and Johnny with a shortcut

Mod 12th scale fastest times of the day. Alex was looking for a 12.5 but could not get there.

Thanks to all the QLD guys for coming down to the Interstate Challenge. And thanks for the kind words of our event. You guys are a whole lot of fun. Thats what this event is about, fun, getting away, and racing at a diiferent track. I'm sure if you were all to come again next year, there maybe a different out come.

Hope you make next year.

Cheers for the good times.

Nice one!
Sorry, i think Johnny jumped a barrier an didn't wait long enough, to get that time.

But he really is a great driving young gun. He will be one to watch next year.

I reckon that time was from the middle of the second final when I was chasing him. He slowed on the next lap to make up for it. So it evened out.

I was chasing Johnny in A3 as well. That was a great race until I either dumped or thermalled (still not sure which). Johnny is a clean driver to race against.

Round 1
Protoform Race Bodies
12th Scale and F1 Winter Series
Xray Raceway Fri 2nd May 7pm

That's right, the winter series is upon us and round one is this Friday night at Xray Raceway in Trackside RC Brendale. There are a lot of new drivers competing in this series in both F1 and 12th scale. With 12th drivers buying F1's and the F1 guys buying 12th scales. And on top of that, we have some new drivers having their first race meetings also. Should be a great nights racing this Friday and the series is looking to be awesome and well attended.

Points for the series are best 6 of 8 rounds to count. Rules for F1 are the National Ruleset with either foam or rubber tyres and the 12th Scale Eurostock rules will be used for that class.

The series will have weekly perpetual trophies because we all love a trophy shot and for everyone completing 6 rounds or more there will be end of series trophies done as T-Shirts, so you can wear your Trophy to the track and show off how great you are. Standard race fees apply for each round.

Hope to see you all there.

The Real Race Report is brought to you by Xray Raceway.

A good nights racing was to be had at the first round of the Protoform Race Bodies Winter Series at Xray raceway in Trackside RC on Friday night.

22 drivers braved the weather and came out for a drive in the 2 classes on offer, 12th scale eurostock and Formula 1. Being split evenly with 11 in each class, there were plenty of laughs and fun to be had.

Quite a few new drivers were there having their first drives and it is good to see so many people getting into 12th scale and F1 and finding how fun it is to race on a tight carpet track that Xray Raceway is.

The standout drive of the night was Sean Vallely, this young fellow has improved out of sight over the last 2 months and now he is starting to challenge some of front runners. In one of the final Sean was only 2 laps of Clinton Livingstone and 1 lap behind Johnny La Spina. Sean is really impressing the front runners with his super smooth and clean driving.

Clinton Livingstone also broke the lap record and is the first driver into the 7 second rage

12th Scale A-Main Podium

1. Clinton Livingstone
2. Johnny La Spina
3. Sean Vallely

F1 A-Main Podium
1. Travis Haack
2. Rob Edds
3. John Hamon

12th Scale B-Main Podium
1. Shannon Jenson
2. Rob Powell
3. Steve Irvine

F1 B-Main Podium
1. Chris Confaloneire
2. Brendan Wells
3. Brendan Haack

Thanks for the real race report.

It was a great night. Clinton's previous experience racing on carpet makes him hard to beat. Awesome driving Clinton! You're the man!!! Congratulations Sean. You are getting better every week. You are maturing in your driving and don't lose your cool. Now that Johnny has become of age, it was good to see him working on his own car.

The podium picks look great and the venue looks professional and in 2 weeks time I (Leo) might be racing too ... Maybe ???

That would be good, don't think I have seen that since the Thunder Tiger days at the Workers Club.
