Cool 2005 ORRCA Qld On-Road EP Titles

The Logan City Radio Controlled Car Club in conjunction with ORRCA Qld will be hosting the 2005 State Electric On-Road Championships.

The venue is Meakin Park Model Raceway, Meakin Road Kingston (behind the Logan City Kings Soccer Club). The event is to be run over 2 days, Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th of September.

Entry forms will be available in the near future on both the ORRCA Qld or LCRCCC web sites. Watch for details.

Classes to be run will be 540, Stock, Mod and 19turn.
(the 19turn Class will be a demonstration event only)
There will be a Control Tyre used for all classes and that will be a SOREX 36r. Inserts and rims are to be free choise.
Each competitor will be allowed a maximum of 3 sets of assembled wheels only and these are to be checked and marked at scrutineering prior to the start of racing.

This is only a quick post to let everyone know whats happening, so stay tuned for updates.

How long before an "official" word regarding the control tyres, as I'd heard it was a maximum of 2 sets

Regardless of whether it's 2 or 3 sets, well done to the ORRCA committee

Bender,
The control tyre is the Sorex 36r and a maximum of 3 sets per competitor will be allowed.

Malaboo my understanding is that IB3600/IB3800/GP3700 will be legal. I believe ORRCA decided last weekend at the AGM to legalise them. There is also a proposal to AARCMCC clubs to approve them from 4 July 2005.

Regards

Check ORRCA Qld website http://www.orrcaqld.org.au/news.htm for the news on Qld Titles rule changes for 2005 on-road Titles.

1. Batteries up to 3800mah legal
2. Control tyres on trial this year - competitors self-supply Sorex 36R, up to 3 sets can be checked in, inserts/wheels free (note you don't have to supply 3 sets - you can supply just 1 or 2 sets if you want to)
3. Race duration for 540 and stock class now 6 MINUTES. Mod remains 5 minutes

Cheers

Scott

I`ve had a bit of discussion with some of the local Guns, and it`s come to my attention that the Queensland Mod Title has not moved south of the border.

Just wondering how many will venture north to TRY to take the TITLE away form us.........

Cookie has said he`ll come north to try......anyone else......

Interesting decision. Have people thought through what this means in terms of motor and tyre wear for these guys? Stock motors are already smoking hot now after 5 minute races. Batteries will also be worked harder so they won't last as long either.

Obviously the decision was thought through. Consultation with the clubs and a deal of debate over several months. The batteries won't be affected any more by a minute extra in the car than they are by the extra time on the discharger. Extra tyre wear is minimal for the extra period of enjoyment. I have never actually seen a "smoking hot" stock motor but believe that the motors get up to temperature during the first 2 or 3 minutes of the run anyway. Obviously if this decision is not a good one in practice it can be revisited but we are confident racers will ebjoy it. FYI we regularly run 8 minute races for 540 around Brisbane already.

Prior to your post the main negative feedback we've had was from mod drivers wanting to know why their times couldn't be increased as well.

I'm just wondering why the decision to run the 19t class was taken? It's a state title, do we really need to be running a demonstration class? As, unless someone runs a second car, won't it be taking people away from the proper classes??
