Team Associated B44 - Electronics Advice Sought
Hi All .. I just bought a B44 roller and as a Newbie I'm after some advice .. Well plenty of advice really
So as a roller I understand that I will need: Receiver & Transmitter Motor ESC Pinion Wheel Servo Batteries Tools, wouldn't hurt either I have split my posts into three sections: Electronics, Batteries & Tools - That way I guess we can all add only to what is of interest to each of us: For now I don't want to spend a bomb - No immediate plans to race - Simply race my sons B4.1 on the track  I'd like your opinions on what gear to buy based upon a new starter, reliability, control and speed. Here are my thoughts: -Receiver & Transmitter - Was considering the Fly Sky GT3B 2.4G - Seems suitable for what I need .. The GT3C looks better but I can't see the value for me with the LCD readout and PC connectivity. -Servo = No idea - Motor & ESC = I see plenty available as a kit, is this worthwhile - What should I be looking for or what would you reccommend for both. Obviously brush less. - Pinion Wheel = I understand that this is all about gearing but I guess it must be based upon the motor I decide on, how many teeth or what # should I look for, should I buy a few .. this will probably be noticeable as I swap them out I guess. Thanks in advance for any replies.. I'm seriously looking forward to getting into this hobby .. My parents would never buy me a buggy as a kid .. Now I've bought one for my son and the his dad!! :D |
Good MG servo but cheap also, use 24 spline or "H" servo horn for hitec
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Hitec-HS-...item58968a1e35 Fast, cheap and reliable brand name Brushless combo, Sensored for smoother acceleration http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Hobbywing...item41712f7f38 you can go cheaper or you can go dearer but you get what u pay for. Hobbyking has the cheapest batteries and motors and escs I know of. Batteries for B44 http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...APPROVED_.html http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...APPROVED_.html the higher C rating ones will offer more acceleration LiPo or nimh/nicad charger powered from 12volt car battery: get the power supply for it for like under $10 from hobbyking if u want to charge in the house, just dont charge at more than 5amps when using the AC power pack http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...cessories.html http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...0_240v_5A.html If one day you decide to race then most of this gear is approved for racing also You can also buy from a local hobby shop but for the same sort of gear you will be more than likely paying double, and you mentioned you don't want to pay heaps Unfortunately the roller is usually the cheapest and easiest part to get, its the radio, charger, batteries, tools and electronics thats the more expensive part. I tried to include some info to help as you are new, but to help you with everything would take a lot of typing, lol :) Good luck and hope you have fun |
