Nitro Warm up
 

I have asked the question before on another thread. But had no real good answer to my question. Maybe your Nitro wisdom can shine some light onto this subject.

Why do Nitro cars have to warm up for soooooo long before every heat? Sometimes twice as long as the race.?????

And how long do you think you need to warm up for????

Well coxy isnt it obvious they need enough time to destroy their cars before the start of the race, At mingara the other week they were given ten minutes for a five minute race, im so glad these propertions dont carry over to Mains, as imagine waiting for the half hour final.:lol:

With Nitro cars you need time to warm the engines up and check the tune...

1. the engine may need to be richend
2. the engine may need to be leaned out
3. after a couple of minutes the engine temp willl stablize

after all this the race can start....

I think a 5 minute warmup period prior to race start is plenty!

I have always said i wanted to try one out, you just have never had it ready to go.

Cant the engine be bought up to temp on the starter? Does it necessarily need to be running around the track in order to get heat into it, god knows they all sit there and rev the thing anyway.

Mate I would love to have a test drive. I am the same as Besercoe and have been thinking of getting one but want a drive before I invest. Looks like heaps of fun driving them rally style.

As far as the warm up is concerned. surely you would have it sitting there warming up before the race on the starter box. and how come I never see any pit work on the cars in the warm up. It's just a all out sprint race to see who can wear out the tryes first. Also is going flat out the best way to warm up an engine.

I don't know, pray tell.

Why do nitro 's get a warm up? Simple BECAUSE THEY CAN!!! If u electric guy's had 1 u would run out of go go:D :lol: . No really u have to tune your engine to #1. the track
#2. the conditions, weather it be cold, overcast or sunny & hot the tuning will change acording to the current conditions. Plus sitting on the starter box doesn't give u a correct indicatioin of tune as there is not as much air going past the cooling fins on the engine. We also need more driving time as we are not as good as u guy's;) ;) :D :p

set the timer in alycat - 3min before any nitro race at the imcc 2 min for electric... keeps the meeting running!:cool:

Just love comments from the on lookers that don't understand. bet they just jump into there cars on a freezing cold morning, start it and drive away with out even turning the heater on and wounder why they freeze to death.:D

To help out here, about five minutes from the last heat to the start of the Nitro race should be plenty, but in some cases the driver/tuners are that far out that they need half an hour just to start the car. This makes it annoying not only to the better set up guys but also to guys like yourselves waiting for the meeting to move on.
The last meeting at Moorebank, we were given 3 minutes between the last heat and the start of our heat to get onto the track and warm up, now that is even faster than most electric meets i've been to.
There are certain dynamics with a nitro powered vehicle that need the warm-up time, over 5 minutes is WAY TOO MUCH.

there is no motor in my NTC3 as it's 4sale! I now run a Reflex NT, tomorrow at Moorebank will be it's first outing! woo hoo! :D

3 minute warm ups were the norm at Moorebank today with no problems for anyone

I think you will find that at the Meca last weekend the computer/printer/loop stuffed up a couple of times for the electric guys as well as the nitro guys :nod:

yeh 3 minute warmups are enough, except for me! all day today was a warmup for me! maybe i will get my act together and race next meeting!

Ive FINALLY found my glitch (i think) :D
my car doesnt like me Standing in the middle of the drivers stand :o

it runs perfect when i stand in the pole postion spot, shame ill never get to stand there for getting pole :blush: :rolleyes:
