Default grub screw removal

hey there does anyone have any tips or thoughts on removing a grub screw that is rounded out from a pinion gear... it has tamiya screw glue(blue stuff) on it but that shouldn't make it too much harder.. not sure if rapid heating of pinion will expand it enough to pull it off

would using a socket head screw instead of a grub screw cause too much inbalance.. atleast with these you can put vice grips on to remove..

For thus you will lose your pinion. But dremel. A slot in the screw and use small flat blade screw driver to try to remove it. You may be able to re use the pinion but it may be gone.

If it's a 1.5mm use an imperial 1/16th it's 1.59mm

+1 I did this, not for a pinion screw but for a different screw. I used a hacksaw though. A hacksaw is probably to big to remove a little screw but it's worth a try.

If you have no other option, or don't care about ruining the pinion you could just drill it out.
Left hand threaded drill bits are available, which might back the screw out as you drill. But wouldn't be worth buying a set just for this though.

If it's a metric screw, I'd be trying a 1/16th hex driver first.

You can get screw outs or pull outs available from a tool specialist these assist in the removal of hex or grub screws, we use them in our workshop.. McJings on Liverpool Road Yagoona I know has them ... about 5 bucks for one to suit 1.5mm

Agreed, this works every time for me. Then chuck that grub screw as far as you can!
