solid esc feedback required.

Buggy: B44.1
Motor: LRP X12 6.5T
Battery: Team orion 90C carbon pro
ESC: ?????????Please give me some good racer's feedback !!!!!!!!
I was going to run an LRP TC Spec Version 2, but I have been reading about some reliability issues people have been having, and Tekin RC Pro, I have been reading that they are not as responsive. Open to all sugestons.e.g. speed passion, hobby wing, etc Budget not an issue, reliability and performance is. Finding it hard to get descent opinions.

do not buy a v2 lrp.

do not buy a tekin for mod.

hobbywing, good speedies, reliability so so, I have 3 hobbywings that do squat and make good paper weights.

speed passion, made by hobbywing however they use different components, and they seemingly have less issues.

My next speedy is a speed passion or orion. But my GM speedy is the best I have used, and I am not sponsored.

Speaking from past experience, LRP/Nosram, Tekin and GM have all been good speedies. My last 5-10 speedies in the brushed era of motors were LRP with no issues.

In the brushless era, currently using LRP SXX V2 Comp and TC spec in 2wd & 4wd off road, with no issues at all. Just a guess and a theory I have with brushless ESCs compared to brushed ESCs is. In the past, if you werent fast enough, you'd go down turns in motor, try higher quality brushes, get better Voltage/amp batteries, play with gearing and FDR. All of these things wouldnt raise the ESC temp by 5 degrees.

Now with brushless, one of the first things people do if the car needs more speed is, increase the boost on the speedy, increase the timing, FDR. All putting increased load on the speedy. These days the speedy is required to do a lot more compared to the past where the motor would, drag break, virtual timing, changable throttle bands, and the list goes on. Using the theory of a computers CPU, if you overclock it and play around, it runs hotter and the life is shortened, unless you have the right cooling, ventilation ect....

Any of the top brands are fine IMO, LRP, Nosram, Novak..........and if you have a problem with it, the manufactuer would be more than happy to fix it, especially within warranty

Do you know others that have run the ct spec v2 and had issues. Have you had any experiance with the speed passions.

What is wrong with tekin for mod? I thought they fixed that throttle smoothness issue with the latest firmware

well if your using a tekin with a low turn mod motor(5.5-6.5), there is a chance that the esc will thermal. When I say there is a chance, its more than likely. Some guys run a fan against the solder post as a fix, but I would avoid running a tekin in mod.

i run the Speedpassion gt 2.1 in all 8 of the cars, 5 offroad and 3 onroad, never had issues with them.

Not if your geared correctly ? Never had a drama at all since I changed my gearing. We just can't run the same gearing as the yanks do as its hotter over here

Running 5 or 6 minute races you should never thermal unless your gearing is way wrong IMO

Buy once buy Tekin

Decided on Speed Passion GT Pro 2.0 Carbon-Black

I think I'm going to leave the LRP alone and buy a Speed Passion, GT Pro V2.0 Carbon-Black. Wish me luck.
