Good stuff.....I called in and saw the track yesterday and I have to say what a great job the guys have been doing to get Meakin back up and running. The track layout is excellent and should provide a lot of good racing with plenty of passing available. Keep up the good work guys and I will see you at the first race

Thanks Adrian,

Yes Alan there will be pits!

The track design would be no less or more diffcult then Wynnum, it has some very good turns in it, but is also free flowing

Cool pits = good As a suggestion see how close you can get them to the drivers stand so we can yell at our pitmen when our motors stall.

This is my 2 cents worth it is good to see Meakin Park going backwards.

Justin designed a perfect track for gas and electric, but the so called experts running the show now are totally out of the ball park as they have just designed a track totally for gas. Can't you guys stop and look at all the tracks overseas are tight and technical a challenge to drive. Oh my mistake the guys here think the bigger the track the better.

So if you don't know how to cheat you will not be fast enough.

Hi Rex,

It wasn't that we didn't want to have a more technical design, the problem we had was, there were lines all over the surface. The costs to clean this up, for which there was no guarantee that it would be successful, was costly.

We decided that the best thing to do by our members, was to try and utilise as many as the lines possible, what you can't see now is the lines we have covered over.

We basically have used three diffrent track designs that were previously there before.

There are alot of people who are racing at Wynnum and the track there is no more technical then the new layout. My guess is that people would have raced on what ever track we had of designed.

I also think there is more to just being competitive on a more technical track, i feel it is more about people, friends , family having a place where they can get together on a Saturday night, socialise and have some fun racing their cars.

But thankyou for your comment though Rex!

Regards B1

HI,

What i forgot to mention also was that this track design can be raced in both directions with a different feel all together.

Well if it can be raced both way why don't you race in reverse to start off to make it more fun.

Thank you brad

Thumbs up

Hey guys the track layout looks good and as said previously fast and free flowing.
Its will be good for nitro and mod, stock electric but as for 540 a bit boring. But 540 is for the kids or the oldies learning to drive a r/c car (fish fish)
But if people want to complain it is not technical enough I suggest cmon on down and see how fast u really r??
If you look at most tracks around the world 2/3 of the tracks are fast and free flowing with a small technical section in it just to slow u down a little. The only place you will find very technical tracks is mainly japan but when u consider the population to actual living area u can see why.
So to all u critics stop complaining and show us how fast u are, I challenge you.

Rob

good to see the club making some progress
i think with what you guys have got you have done a good job
it all boils down to if you dont like the track or dont like the club dont race there
but why insist on putting the club and track down for the whole of the world to see
we all had our chance to make changes
cheers

I reckon that from what I've seen and from what people tell me - and I speak to a lot of RC racers during the course of a week - that "It' all good" and most aren't hung up on what the layout is as long as there is racing.

A lot of work has been done in the last few weeks both at the track and administratively and racing is going to happen at Logan again. And isn't that what we need - a tarmac track running night meetings for electric and Nitro - no reason why it won't be as strong or stronger than it was in the past.

If the first meet is 19th I am going to be spitting as I have something else on that night but sure everyone else will have a great night. Get out there and support the guys who have been putting in the hard yards for us.

Default Track update

Hi guys,

We have done the following:

a) Polypipe has been laid down

b) Plough discs to go down Sunday, and painting to be finished off

c) Three light bulbs need to be replaced and will be done before wednesday.

Wednesday weather permitting will be a practice night under lights, we will also be testing the computer, loop, transponders.

First meet is scheduled weather permitting 19/2/05.

All are welcome to come down Wednesday night and try out the new track design, pass this info on to all racers.

Regards B1
