I jammed a 23t pinion on mine , std gear set , maxed the esc timing and minimised the punch value. I have found 70-80% throttle E.P.A to be fast enough at WSRC so far .

21.5 blinky would be very usable as far as power band is concerned, with 17.5 not too much faster. As long as guys don't start smoking motors , as that screws any class up . That's why I chose the mini combo - cheap and readily available + working well within its limits

In the end, there is only so much power you can put down.......

I will go along with whatever is decided , but would prefer not to shell out for more gear. SMA I believe, have a pretty open ruling ?

My fgx is ready for a race and also have a mate with one. When is the next meet? Can someone post the trading hours of the track during this holidays.

Thanks for the responses guys. Looking around there is the justock systems and ezrun systems too, both with 13t setups. Which is which? Or is there another one I'm missing?

Ajc,

Dan and rbr are talking about the 13t hobbywing combo that the mini's use not the 13.5t hw motor.

The mini system is a sensorless that is a blinky system. From memory the speedie is a 35amp

You can pick them up for around a $100. I think i saw one for sale at the track last night up for sale. Not sure how much was being asked it though.

Badman, what system are you running in yours?

If you want to go the blinky 17.5 route, you can pick up a Speed Passion Cirtix sensored combo for $99 + postage .
The FGX is pretty good with the kit setup. The version 2 front wishbones will hopefully be a lot stronger than the kit parts - they are very weak .
I havent tried the three degree toe blocks yet , they will be my next step......

Ah ok. With a bit more googling, it seems that a 13t + 35a speedy is what's considered a mini system, is that right?

congratulations to WERC on the new track. everything ran flawlessly for the 1st meet.
ample pit area, power supply, good lighting, good track, SMA-esque car-friendly curbs, pit shop

a couple of feedbacks:
a. having the WERC sign placed on the main road *really* helped. i would've missed the rather obscure entrance if not for it. i hope it will be placed there whenever the track is opened because it will benefit pple who are new to the track.
b. some of us found that standing on the wooden boxes (additional 6 inches?) on the drivers' stand helped with visibility especially on the far left & right. I suppose it depends on how tall one is

big thumbs up to the guys who put in the hard work.

Yes the mini combo is a hw ezrun system 13t 3000kv motor with a 35 amp speedy. It is all sensorless . Its is OEM'd by other manufacturers such as venom, yeah racing and hobbywing
