Default PDNR 2004 Charity Challenge at Oran Park Raceway

Its coming up to that time of year again. The Charity Challenge will be held at Oran Park Raceway on Sunday 19th of December.
The track will be set up in the paddock area behind the pits & corporate area.
For those unfamilier with the charity challenge, it is a race meet held at Oran Park in conjunction with the Kids Race Day Christmas Party. The day is action packed & is designed to give kids with disabilitys & kids that spend a lot of time in hospital an opertunity to spend a day at the races. There is burnouts, V8 supercars, santa, hotrods, 4wds giving runs around the offroad track, race simulators, R/C racing (of course) & most importantly happy smiling children that unfortunatly dont get the chance to have fun very often.

The format is yet to be finalised, but this is a likely scenario at this stage.
3 Classes on offer
1/10 Nitro open tourers (limit 20 entrants)
1/10 Nitro pullstart tourers (limit 20 entrants)
Open Nitro offroad (trucks & buggies) limit 10 entrants

2 rounds 5 min qualifiers
10 min B finals
20 min A finals for Tourers
15 min final for off road
Trophys for A Finalists & 1st 2nd 3rd in the B
Entrants Plate for all entrants.

Celebrity Race TBA, possible entrants at this stage Craig Lowndes, Steven Richards & John Bowe to start with. This is yet to be confirmed. But at PDNR we are the can do club so we should be able to pull this off.

R/C vs 1/1 drag race. The mighty Integra should have some stiffer competition this year. Hopefully either a Supercar or Drag Car.

3 sessions of Kids Drives. This is the highlight of the day. It is hard to imagine the thrill of letting a blind kid try & drive your car around the track as you tell him where to turn. The smiles make it worth every second. Last year we had 4 cars for the kids to drive, we would like a few more this year. An old V-One-S or similar is recomended, we dont expect anyone to loan their MTX3 Surprisingly there was very little damage to the loan cars last year.

That should fill the day nicely, for more info on the Kids Race Day visit www.kidsraceday.com.au entry forms & further info will be available at www.pdnracing.org.au very soon. Also keep looking here for updates. Last year we raised $1300.00 for the charitys supported by the event & we want to go better this year. entrys are $25.00. Be a part of this great event, have a blast & help the Kids

hey,

there may be a really obvious answer to this question that i am un aware of but i'll ask anyway... why dont you incorporate electric racing in there aswell??? im sure you could raise alot more money

and i do know that it is penrith district NITRO racing... but still... i dont see why we cant have electric classes aswell, especially if its to raise money for charity

just my 2c

thanx

To run electric as well would make the day much more hectic, when we have done the program & confirmed times for the different events we may find enough time to offer an electric division. No guarantees as any desision would need to come from the commitee but I will see if I can work it in, I will be trying to do up the program tonight. Anything that shares the fun & raises more money for the Kids has to be a good thing. But we cant offer more divisions at the expense of the Kids drives etc.

Count me in. If this years event is even half as good as last year it will be fantastic.

Will the dunny derby be run again? Hope so that was great to watch. It would be good to have the electric guys join us but the day was pretty full last year. How about a top ten shoot out like we did at Bathurst to determine grid positions?

I am in the process of working out the schedule now. I forgot about the dunny derby, so I will try & squeeze it in too. I will check with the commitee once its complete to get the thumbs up & once approved I will post the full line up

I lived a very boring life as i was not a part of PDNR in oct. last year so did not go to the charity day.

After attending Bathurst on saturday and having the time of my life I won't be missing Oran Park.

You can't knock the v1-s can you Splitty? I took my single speed pull start v1-s to 4th place in Bathurst. Didn't break a single thing in practice, 4 heats and the final.

Will have it ready to hopefully beat some quicker cars at Oran park. Long live the v1-s.

The program has been worked out & we will have 6 classes on offer.
Nitro Tourers Pullstart - side exhaust
Nitro Tourers Open
Nitro Off Road - Truck & Buggy combined
1/8 & 235mm - Combined
Electric Tourers - Stock
Electric Tourers - Mod

We will also have time for the Dunny Derby. Better get some balsa Splitty

Entry forms should be available in the next day or two. Be quick as entrys are limited, so its first in best dressed. I will post here with a link. All classes are $25.00 & you may run additional classes but they are still $25.00. We want to raise as much as we can for the Kids. Also if you are wanting to run 2 classes please nominate your prefered class, we will not confirm the 2nd class entry being accepted untill just before entrys close. We dont want to turn people away so others can run multiple classes, its best to share the fun.

Dont forget if you have a bash car bring it along so the Kids can have a go. Its a great way to make yourself feel good.

Absolutely, positively no late entrys accepted.
