Default Sunday 17th Race Day

Could the committee please confirm that the race day is on.

It is our club race day and should not be effected by TITC.

All members we need to support the race day as we voted for it at the Annual General Meeting.

Regards,

Default Question for Xray T3 Owners/Past Owners

I have a couple of questions for anyone that owned/owns an Xray T3.

CraigM is giving me a good deal on a T3 '11 Roller and as I am new im hoping some SMA locals can answer a few questions. Im not really going to be racing much, just practice mainly on Tuesday nights.

1) Gearing for 17.5T TC, I will be running a Reedy 17.5T with high Torque rotor whats a good FDR to aim for and what size Spur/Pinions should I look at?

2) Any necessary mods the T3 '11 needs that wont break the bank?

3) Any necessary spares I should stock up on?

4) Any setup sheets or setups anyone can recommend for SMA?

Look forward to crashing into some walls soon.

Cheers.

1)Never ran a Reedy, what esc are you going to use?

2)Ecs's in the front help a lot

3)A set of steering blocks, spool cups and boneblades are all that are needed

4)You can try this:
http://forum.teamxray.com/xform/inde...&setup=t3_2012
At this stage, just leave the front spool in.

As for car, there are many brands, Tamiya, Xray, Associated and others that all can provide a great platform to race.

Pending on what class you plan on entering, will all need to be considered prior to purchasing a car and equipment.

There are Touring cars (TC), Mini, F1, with TC cars have different classes within, 21.5 (slowest), stock then mod (fastest).

So pending on what class you wish to enter, this is when talking to the regulars will help on what chassis, electrics, radio gear etc would suit your preferred class.

Then the option of new or second hand. Many of regulars will always have second hand equipment that would always suit someone starting in the hobby along with club sponsors that can provide new equipment if that is your preference.

Work out what class you want to start with, talk with the regulars, work out what $$$$ you want to spend then look at new or second hand

Then go racing

If you want to race 2wd, F1 is very popular at SMA currently as well.
Thanks for the help guys.

Will see you guys trackside real soon.

One more things is Tuesday just practice? or do you guys race on Tuesday as well

- Ok So the front is a spool. But I was looking at replacing the Ball Diff with a gear Diff.

Any suggestion on gearing?

Default re t3

re t3
are you a novice if so think about getting a 21.5 to start with.
ecs are good when experienced but can be fragile when learning.
justock is blinky only and we run boosted with 17.5
basic asphalt setup for xray is a good starting point

Most Tuesday nights are racing and racing is the fastest way to improve.

No need to rush. Run the 17.5 Blinky in the Novice class. Go easy on the gearing, say around 4.2 and once you can go the race without being marshalled (with the exception of being punted by someone else), then explore your options.

The following post might help with gearing:

just run the 17.5 first and go from there. Belts aren't an issue if you're only running winds larger than 17.5, but if you want just get a spare. Definitely replace the ball diff with a gear diff

edit: oh if you have a justock then you'll want to get a 21.5 as that'sthe only blinky class we run in onroad. With the 17.5, we run that boosted.

I can swap the 60amp HW Xerun esc from my 4wd buggy into the TC. I may just run the 17.5t unboosted with a higher FDR in novice for a while.

Thanks for the help and info guys. Place the order tonight maybe.
