So I'll be the one who asks.....

What was the outcome of the vote?

I'm sure those of you who know me, know I am a HUGE fan of the SMA club, track and Facilities! That said, I do think it's imperative all clubs continually invest in their brand.

Unfortunately over the past few years there has been significant deterioration in the track surface at SMA which has resulted in the racing being a little "less fun". It would normally not stop me racing there, but with 4 major race meetings over the next 3 months, SMA has moved to the bottom of the list as other host clubs are making major investments in showcasing the best track they can.

As racers, we should reward and praise these investments with attendance as we want them to continue.

Just a couple cents from an insignificant mexican

Cheers,
Jordan

Can someone advise on suitable tyres for your track? Running a TC6 in stock.

They voted to wait to vote until after club challenge next weekend, and pressure clean the surface before that meet to "see how it goes".

I assume that means no painting because the logistics of deciding to do it and getting it done in 8 weeks with time to bed in the new surface doesn't seem feasible.

Having pressure cleaned IMCC. I can tell you that any remaining Boral paint will be blasted off. We tried it then had to repaint the surface as the Tennis surface showed through.

That depends on track temps and choice of compound & inners.

On Sunday I used ride 28's for the first 2 qualifiers which gave me good grip and reasonable speed.

As the track warmed up in the afternoon I switched to MM 32's which still gave good grip and higher top end speed, maybe lower rolling resistance as opposed to the ride's??

On the last final I done my best result for the day getting under 19 seconds a lap, to which I was happy and now just have to improve on my driving and taking the right lines.

Cheers
Rob.

Yes it was decided last night to clean the track first prior to CC. and try the surface out for a few weeks.

And if that doesn't work the club has NO hesitations in resurfacing the track, the club had no interest in taking sides and I assure you the majority is in favor off repainting the surface. so it WILL happen if there is any issues at all. And yes before the states.

It's all good to want want want, however we need to remember these guys are VOLUNTEERS. so the manpower needed to do this needs to grow significantly to make this happen.

That said, who is happy to volunteer? I'm in

I'm a hell of a lot happier than my previous posts as its been discussed and voting within the club has happened, and it's been a brilliant outcome.

As a relative newbie to this hobby, I am in no position to give an informed opinion on what the right course of action is take and think both sides have very strong arguments making it a hard final call to make.

Whatever that decision is, I will be there to help out as much as wI can in any work that helps the place look as great as it could be. The facilities we have and what has been built up over the years are fantastic and it would be great to have the place really shine in October. Not just the track but the pit areas, drivers stand, and race control as well.

I swapped back to MM32's, found the rides felt a "bit mushy" for my liking. But i run a 417x and its definatly different from other runners in 21.5

The rides need a bit of a different setup. They are also larger so you may need to change gearing
