tyres

what tyres work on a polished timber floor such as a basket ball court???;) ;)

rjl 07-23-2004 10:51 PM

Foam tyres with a coating of silicon sealant.:D

oh really?
i gave rubber a shot one day, 0 grip, wondering what the hell people would use to race on floorboards with :)

i'd heard that in europe they use rubber tyres with little nobblys on them for grip on floorboards.

schumacher mini pins are supposed to be the best i think

there's some more info somewhere on this site, not sure where exactly though

Clicky

thanks luv!

wanna come race in shepp one day? i hear they race on floorboards up there

Rory 07-24-2004 01:02 AM

moi?? i think shepp is a bit far for me lol... last i heard i thought they were outdoor asphalt like us though? maybe i'm wrong, thats just what i remember

Jaybo 07-24-2004 01:03 AM

one of the guys who was up at wondonga said they run indoors on floorboards in shepp (or maybe wangaratta it coulda been)

i wouldnt mind going up there some time to race if they do, something a bit different.

Rory 07-24-2004 01:06 AM

well wangaratta ain't exactly round the corner either hehe

adam might know, i'll ask him. would certainly be interesting to give it a shot if they are on polished wood up there

Jaybo 07-24-2004 01:08 AM

it's only a few hours drive ;)

you've only gotta be a passenger anyway

i'll ask dad if he can get his hands on a transitvan minibus from work, or a 4 seater ute for the night :)

OldSkool 07-25-2004 01:38 AM

wangaratta run a meeting , on a wednesday or tuesday?
on a basket ball court. Starts at 7pm or something.
Tamiya rally tyres in a soft compound are the go if you want grip.
Better though is a few running on take offs, no grip D-STYLE!!!!
Last time I went 4 of us were running slicks ,8 and 9 turn motors.
It was mad.

If you want to race with grip don't bother driving of 2 1/2 hours.

I s**t you not, try silicon sealant on the surface of a set of tyres, used to do it on off road tyres. Massive drift if you plant it but you can get around pretty good if you drive carefully.

silicon sealant

any silicon would work, weather it is gasket or otherwise. i would guess gasket sealant would work best as it dries a bit quicker.

it would stick to rubbers but effectively work better with foam as it would seap and stick into the pours of the foam.

SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT IDEA FOR BASHERS WHO WANT TO GET THE MOST OUT OF THOSE 55MM diameter foams!:p :D i'm gonna give it a go.

maybe a good idea for the miniz's out there;)
