Interference please help
Hey guys.
Ok i got a KO mars FM radio, Novak GT7 speed control, KO 2173 servo, RC10B4 with graphite kit, and a REEDY KR 12x2. Now i have only just noticed that the servo gets a slight twitch, and its got something to do with the motor, as when disconnected it doesn't do it. I have the power cap connected, 2 schotty diodes (one inline, one on the actual motor) and the CAPS that are preinstalled on the motor. Can anyone see a problem here???? I tried it with only the inline schotty but it was no different. Anyways ppl let me know. Glenn |
Ok a few things to try,
Rebuild the motor, fresh cut, new brushes Try different motor - caps can be damaged, esp if buzzed on a 6 cell pack. change crystals, can be damaged esp in offroad. pull case off receiver and brush clean, dirt and rocks can sometimes affect the receiver. make sure all radio components are properly insulated, and wires esp aerial do not touch the graphite material. Add extra layers of servo tape to receiver and speedie to elevate from chassis. Let us know a few more details, as it may be able to assist. |

more than likely the capacitors in the motor, ive had a brand new stock motor glitch to the point where it wouldn't go 2 feet away without going out of control, the fix, I soldered the capacitor board (it was an epic can n endbell) to the brush hoods.
puts some external capacitors on the motor. |
Hey Guys.
Ok heres some more info, basically the motor is new, the radio i just got today s/h. Now i have a second car and guess what it doesn't glitch in my normal B4 only the graphite version!! What should i do? Its the factory reciever, should i get an aftermarket?? I have gone thru everything now, and it all works perfectly in my standard B4, but glitches in my Graphite car. :( Any more ideas?? Thanks Glenn |
If the same combination works in the composite car but not the graphite, then someting is shorting on the chassis, ensure the aerial wire does not travel near/through any graphite, raise the receiver off the deck with 3-4 layers of Tape.

Hey guys.
Ok well i tried my JR radio gear in the graphite car and it was perfect, i am thinking that maybe the reciever might be a bit iffy now. Anyways i might take it out and get it looked at, i just tried all my KO gear in the graphite car but with a johnson 540 motor and it hardly glitched at all. Glenn |
Hey guys just another thought, i can't get a KO receiver, would another brand 40mhz FM receiver work? Like say a Sanwa or a JR??
That way i could work out exactly what is goin on here. Glenn |
Your not the only one to have these problems with the Associated graphite chassis.
As bersercoe said, it can be any combination that will make it good or bad. One little suggestion that will help a bit, use a LOSI idea and drill your arial tube about 10 mm above the chassis mount and run your arial wire through that point, dont run the arial lead through the chassis, mount the receiver on its side, crystal to the top, on 3 or 4 layers of double sided tape. Make sure that your battery slot is insulated from the battery both sides and bottom. just a few suggestions to help you out. |
Hey Guys.
Ok well i just tried something, tested it with the battery outside of the car and it was perfect. As soon as it gets near the graphite chassis it starts to glitch. I am going to use my old chassis i think just so i don't have this problem. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I think its strange that i don't have the problem when i was using my JR radio in the graphite car tho. Any ideas why it affects my KO stuff?? Glenn |
yeah, sounds like your fu@#ed, :)
naa, if you add up all the ideah's that beserk and old cart have.. you shouldnt have a problem, |
Hey Guys.
Ok i re-built my car using my old normal chassis just b4, and guess what it still does it. but if i lift the receiver off the chassis or push down on the receiver it stops. I now think the Rx might be on its way out so i am gonna try a JR FM rx in the morning see how that goes. Anyone know if i will have trouble matching a JR Rx to a KO tx providing they are the same FM mhz?? Glenn |
Hey Guys.
Well after going insane all night, i tried this cheap LRP speedy out of my g/f rtr b4. Now all the interference stopped, so i put the GT7 back in and it went crazy, so i tried a new schotty diode, wiring changes, new caps. Still went mad. Put the cheap LRP back in and it instantly stopped???? I am looking at a GM speedo today, what do you guys think of GM? thanks Glenn |
I've got a few GT7's and never had a problem, but I've heard of this happening with them before...bugger.
