Prime requirement of "F1" status is no novices!
(and no Colts, no GVs...)

There's no fast lane hogging by off-pace cars, there's very little
"dirty" driving & methink it was FUN & EXCITING for drivers/teams/spectators.
By comparison, ISTC is a demolition derby with road-raging idiots.

Hey if I had an hour to pull off the racing line every time someone comes within cooey, I would do it. But this is a 5 minute sprint buddy! Rubbin' is racin'.
Seriously, though, that comment about ISTC relying on technology and LUCK? I would have thought IC cars running for 45-90mins and finishing is more prone to bad luck! Multi-final racing for electrics compensates for some of the lucky wins and rewards consitency.

Silly thing is, if you let the guys that are considerably faster past you, then you'll probably drive more consistently and turn faster laps anyway...

(2) tail him as close as I can, follow his exact lines.
I have learnt a lot about racing lines from doing that.
If one is SLOW enough to be caught & overtaken on the track
then you should find out *why*. Could be driver skill, could be
sub-par equipment... so if you want to win, find the cause & fix it.
Not giving way & trying to slow down the 'fast' boys is immature,
stupid and pointless. A genuinely good driver will always find a
route around a backmarker anyway, whether moving or not.
And if the faster car taps you in the corner... "sorry pal, one-way".

1/8 is definitely the F1 of R/C. its the fastest, most skillful class in R/C. no way in hell everyone has the skill to drive 1/8, at those speeds only the most skilled drivers are able to handle those beasts properly, just watching 1/8 scale makes you admire those guys, with VERY deep wallets and the skills to match, it is the premiere and most prestigous class in R/C.

(still pretty fast & noisy, cheaper 'budget' racing, odd type of car that you won't find overseas - for which parts are probably getting harder to find)

Being a 235mm racer (were such easy going guys us 235 drivers) i wont take offence
after all if 1/8th racing is the fastest form of RC racing then 235mm is STILL the 2nd fastest form bar none
just look at lap records at the various tracks around the world including Australia
