Default FW-05R or Serpent 710?

Hi,

I can't decide between a FW-05 and a Serpent 710? If you have seen both of these cars, which one would you recommend? What are the main adv/disadvantages??

I don't really care about things like FW-05 is 1.5 second faster than 710 on this track and so on..

I'm after a car that's easy to maintain (driver friendly), with easy to find spares/hop ups, good support and so on..

TIA...

The serpent would be much easier to find spares and support esp in the Sydney area, as CMC are open to the public daily, and generally keep a full parts supply.

FW may be easier to keep clean and running smooth, as contains enclosed drive train. Both cars would be very quick, 710 has been very quick in Aus, and i beleive the FW won the Gas WC warmup race recently.

If in Sydney I would probably choose the 710, as there will always be racers at the track with the said car.. (Custom Model Cars in Sydney also helps)

If you are in Melbourne, go for the FW05 , there are a few of us now that race that car most weekends, having said that, there are also guys down here that handle the Serpent product.

Performance wise, only time will tell

Default FW-05

I have owned my fw for a few months now with no problems
easy to drive & maintain ( no belts ) .
if you go for the fw buy the foam tyre version.
I had a serpent before this but prefer the fact i can buy all the parts overseas easy.
;one gear here $16.99,
os $6.50 or cheaper

it's a bit of a pain in the asse though that CMC are only open Mon-Fri 9-5.

DC and SG if your reading thjis ....PLEASE just stay open ONE more hour on Thursday or something or 2-3 hours on Sat. I'm running out of excuses to leave work for an hour!!!!!

Default fw-05

gunpowder,

hi. bro i prefer fw-05 than 710.il site some reason on my side fw 05 for me is very fast in starting or in cornering regardless on how you set your car coz its a shaft driven later to handle. compare to 710 its a belt driven it isn't us smooth compare to a shaft driven. but its all up to you to decide which car better suits you style.

enjoy life and start racing

Thank you for all the replies.. I haven't made up my mind fully yet, but so far Kyosho's looking a little more likely... Parts and Hop-ups are plenty...

Cheers,

there is the FW-05R which is the racing version and the
FW-05S which i am guessing is a little less hoped up and more of a sports version. as far as i am aware they are the only two.

Default FW

FW-05R rubber or foam tyre version
rear shafts are shorter for he wider foam tyres.
Also had to make adjustable steering rods as the kit arms
don't give you the toe you need when using 5-6mm ride height.

Hi,

I've been doing some research for a few days, if you purchase it from Japan, you also get Carbon Fibre Upper Deck, Front One Way, 4mm Chasis in the standard FW-05R.

There is also a version that comes with all of the above plus a OS 3 Port Turbo Engine and Pipe, exhaust..

has anyone seen the arms on the 710? why are they so skinny... they look flimsy... but has anyone found out if people have broken any of the arms... i do like the whole active rear toe auto-displacement mechanism... very intriguing... but not sure about parts strength though...
