Anodizing

Who are the best anodizers in Melbourne? I want my Mi4 done :)

Happy to send interstate if I can get a better job

There are heaps of electroplaters in Melbourne. Do a Yellow Pages search and I'm sure you will find someone local to you that will do an excellent job.

Cheers

Theres a guy in sydney named Ron Peters who has been electroplating for god knows how long (rouhly 60 years). his business name is aluminium enterprises.. hes doing a T2009 for me.. just to give you an idea he is charging me 95 for all the alloy parts in the kit.

Google his business. it is on brocks Ln, in Newtown, Sydney.

most kits are done in Matt Todd, i got my t2 anodised back when i did it int he shiney, the shiney looks good actually, and might actually help in keeping the tolerances as when they strip the old anodising there's a small amount of alloy that might be lost (we're talking like microns, but you know).

the shiney would look really nice with a black, or a red, or blue, maybe matt is better in say a pink, or a gold.

he also does a clear coat, so you can take the parts to a metal polisher, then get the dude to clear coat it for a chromed look:sneaky:

the shiney helps preserve the colour as it's a clear coat. Just after anodising, wash the parts in a soft soap with warm water, or a very mild detergent to get the residue off, and to make the parts look bright. they look a bit dull after the work due to the chemicals and stuff.

I contacted Ron today, a woman answered and wants a list with gauge, size and weight of each part, did any one have to do this?

Maybe take a photo of all the bits with a ruler next to them for scale, and email them the photo.

it depends on the type of alloy it is, ie 7076, or lower.xray says they use 7076 but it isn't only the diff ourdrives were 7076. the type of alloy it is depends on how they have to anodise it. it will be $90 most prob for a tourer. just mail it to them and expect this or a bit more.

Try A Grade Anodising in Ormeau QLD...they do all our racecar stuff at work, turn around is real quick and they charge us about $300 for about 10 panels. Im sure an RC car would be cheap as.
