yeah it is the interstate challenge weekend, i guess that answers the question as to whether or not the border challenge is happening this year or not.

Its also Nitro X finals weekend, so i wont be there.


Johnnyg- There is more chance of Melbourne winning the flag this year, too close to the clash.

Over half of vic's team came from Mildura last year, almost 600ks each way so I don't see how the travel argument has any credit anymore.

As for unbiased marshalling. You could all show a little bit of integrity and marshall the way you expect to.

So is this the end of the border challenge? does NSW prefer to run and hide rather than try win it back? does nobody care anymore?

I was prepared to race this race, to represent victoria, over racing a nitro race to win a trip overseas. Maybe the value of this race is lost on the modern generation, shame really.

Travel argument is still an issue as alot of our team also came from Maitland which is approx another 2 hours from Sydney. So the only fair way to do it would be to alternate the venue.

At the risk of alienating people, I can see both sides of the travel story. As long as it isnt in Sydney and isnt in Melbourne I think it is fair to alternate the venue. However, is there really an appropriate alternative? Is Canberra ready / willing to host this event every 2nd year? Has anyone actually spoken to them? The event isnt that far away yet now it suddenly seems to have become an irreconcilable sticking point.

It seems a moot point now anyway.

As for Vics not travelling as much as NSW guys - firstly, I didnt realise that there was a frequent flyer competition in RC, and secondly, I am way jealous of you guys being able to travel as much as you do!! For me, just getting to a club day is a major mission.....

I hope that some middle ground can be reached and that the event can continue in the future. It has a proud history and should be a fun event to finish off the year with fellow RC enthusiasts. Maybe we need to forget about the NSW vs Vic pointscore and just have a Xmas windup race meeting to celebrate this great hobby. Whichever state drinks the most beer Saturday night wins the trophy.

It would be a shame to see it fall off the calendar due to some chassis stickers. Would have to be the cheapest psyche-out trick in the history of RC.

Looking forward to the Interstate Challenge 2010.
