Hi Guys

I'm keen to give drifting a go with my old cyclone s. I'm going to run a brushed 19t motor. Could someone that has run a 19t motor drifting please let me know the recommended gearing and also the setup of the diffs ie spool in the rear, loose diffs??? I'm extremely new to it so have only heard bits and pieces. I just want to get it right the first time.

I would try a oneway in front & spool in the rear ( this setup lets you do handbrake turns ) & is easy to drift with :sneaky: or just go with 2 spools / 2 really tight ball diffs .........

What tyres are you using ?

As for gearing start low & when you get the nack of it gear up for more speed & longer drifts , just check motor temps every now & then ( i don't think it will get very hot )

Depending on the surface and the track size and layout you can try different setups, for the most consistent drift lock both front and rear diffs, this allows you to have the most control, but you have to "flick" the car into the corner to initate the drift, as the locked front causes understeer. I usually run a open diff up front and a locked rear as out track up here is tight and you need all the steering you can and I'm also running a brushed 19t, but I couldn't tell you what gearing I run with it as I just slap it together if it runs all good. check out www.driftcity.org for drift meets around your area they have weekly meets over at cannon hill and at the Goldy too, or you can come up here and check out my personal drift track, it a shed at my inlaws, it's not much but it's some fun:blush:

We also have a 1/10 EP off road track out side, and both tracks are currently under going facelifts in preperation for our Drift City Drift comp coming up in May.

Thanks guys, Ill try out those settings and see how I go. Theres a local drift meet at acacia ridge (Aussie Hobbies) every second Saturday so I might try and get out there once in while.

What tyres do you recommend Steve?

hpi t drifts are prtty good a bit inconsistant when they heat up tho or poly pipe tyres, i live just down the road at parkinson :) theres also drifting on at darra and brendale on the north side (part of trackside rc)

Hey Vazzo, look out for my young bloke - Stevo - he'll be out there drifting a Serpent S400 - you can't miss him - looks like me but 2 foot taller and not quite as round.:lol::lol:

Find Big Al - races at Meakin ocassionally - he'll help you out too.
