sensor,sensorless questions
hi guys,just a quick question....i bought a lrp eraser stock spec 13.5 motor today,and on the package it says i can run it sensor or sensorless.....
i am going to hook it up to a mamba max speedy(sensorless)...is this going to cause any dramas or cook my speedy? also,the mamba is wired in red/white/black on the motor wires but the LRP motor is blue/yellow/orange...am i right in assuming that the polarity doesnt matter with brushless motors(i read in my mamba manual that u can swap the red and black wires to reverse the direction of the motor,but never swap the white wire)therefore my wiring from mamba to LRP should be red/blue then white/yellow then black/orange? sorry bout the simple questions,but i really dont want to let the magic smoke out of anything.....:cry::lol::lol: cheers Justin |
Yeah I run sensored motors on my mamba max and it's fine.
Wires don't matter, just plug it up and if it spins backwards swap 2 wires around to get it to go forward. |

It won't make a difference which way it's hooked up other than possibly having the motor spin the wrong way, you can just do it random, and then swap any wires to reverse the rotation.
I can't find in the mamba manual where they say not to swap the white wire? I'm looking at it and they say it doesn't matter which way it's done. Mine seems to arm when it detects the neutral position, as soon as I turn the transmitter on. If i've got the wrong transmitter profile selected it won't arm until I select the right one then it arms instantly. |

I've only been running low turn motors like 5.5 turns and it doesn't cog, people say that higher turn motors will cog but haven't tried it yet. I'm going to get a 13.5 so i'll see how that goes. Lets hope the weather stays nice so we can finish it hey! |

Lets hope the weather stays nice so we can finish it hey! just hooked it up and tested it,it works fine,but revs a little slower in reverse,but i think the reverse power was set lower on my castle link software:cool::cool: i am running a LRP Eraser 13.5 on it at the moment to see how it goes in a slash,noticed a little cogging just holding it off idle,but nothing up top i also tryed yor trick off letting it just register at neutral,it worked:cool:armed itself,and i had throttle:cool:...maybe i should have read my manual a bit better,just got to excited about unleashing the mamba power(5700kv motor) its my first brushless setup,and the LRP is my first normal speed brushless,so im just checking to make sure its all going to run correctly..... again,thanks for ya help Bugle,much appreciated:nod::):):)it all works fine....thankyou...... and hopeful the weather holds out for u guys,i'm running a crawler comp this weekend,so heres hoping for the both of us.....:lol::lol: might have to come turn some laps on your track with the slash at some stage.... |
Forget about using the colours as a reference, they are all labelled A B C. You just need to marry these up and all will be fine.

I would have thought that 13.5 would have been borderline as my castle won't run 17.5 without cogging for a good 2sec before it takes off :flaming: Runs fine with a 6.5 though :nod: |
i only tested it in my rig with it sitting on the bech...it cogged at real light throttle...at slow speed...should be ok on the track,will test it fully tomorow arvo at ryde ......hopefully it doesnt rain:)

Strange it cogs that bad on 17.5. I've got a hobbywing sensorless speedo + 17.5 motor in another car and if you hit full throttle from a standstill it cogs for a split second then goes would've thought the Mamba would do better than Hobbywing. Have to try it with the Mamba.
Tom they don't mark ABC on the Mamba it's just marked red white black, so you've just gotta take a guess when hooking the motor up |

If you have another motor you could reference where A B C should be? |
