Nick probably thinking of secondhand cars. Try search TA05 ver.2 or IFS.
I wouldn’t go with TA06, it’s rarely seen at the track and has weird design, which we are not sure works or not.
TA05 is proven good car and many people have it, which means you can borrow parts off mates, share set up tips and cheaper to get it. When Ryde boys first started racing at Tempe, I’ve beaten all of them with 6 years old bog stock TA05 with silver can and TEU-101 esc against their 21.5s(more power), so no need for High-end car to win.
I’m not a big fan of posting unrelated subject here, no need for “on-road” talk on Ryde thread.
Ask around any on-road questions on SMA thread, more people will give you advice. Also heaps of people have second hand car / electrics / parts that want to sell but not on “for sale” threads, just because we can’t be ass.
You’ll need:
- Good second hand or new car to suit your budget.
- ESC from off-roads stock list
- Good brands 21.5 motor off AARCMCC/ROAR
- ROAR approved 2cell battery.
- Race body shell.
- Good set of tyres. I recommend Muchmore VPM32 for Tempe.

Peli (or anyone with AE), I’m getting new car soon. B4.1 WC, what hop up/blue bits would you recommend? Hoping to get back to off-road racing after TITC and run Nats at St Ives.

Hiroshi,

If you are racing Stock I'd recommend getting the MIP Aluminium idler gear, and some of the optional springs. If you are racing Mod I'd recommend getting the optional springs.

RCMart mate, Australia too expensive for Tamiya. Saying that though, Hobbies in the Hills carry a bit of Tamiya and at very good prices, if they have a TA05 it would be competitive with HK. Their off road and mini stuff was really cheap last time I was there. In fact most of their stock is bloody cheap, I bought Hitec servos there the other day cheaper than I could get from Tower!

Hiroshi,

Just rebuilt the old FTB4 and a few things came back to me. Get lots of spare red shock o-rings and green slime. Other things that break are the wing mounts and usual consumables in the diff. Also try the RPM ball cups and front bumper if you want more durability. If the 4.1WC has the teflon shield bearings then just go straight for the rubber sealed ones. The teflon ones get ruined pretty quickly at the axles.

Actually after rebuilding awful original FTB4 shocks, I'm tempted to order a new B4.1WC as well.

Can't wait to get back to offroad at Ryde!

Roger
