Default Series 3

Hey, is there going to be a series 3? I noticed that the Sunday series 1 only went to round 6, and Sunday series 2 is now round 8.

We have decided to have only 2 series for the year as i feel 3 is too many, we will have a first half of the year point score followed by a second half.

Extending series 2, and will have dropped rounds also put into place, the number as yet to be determined.

If you consider rain days and major events taking the place of point score club meetings, it makes sense to have a longer series so that there is flexibility to have dropped rounds also and still have a decent amount of counted rounds.

A bit out of joint this year as the current committee started half way through the year, but we will be consistent next year.

We will endeavor to have a 4 hour Enduro meeting at the end of each series in the future, and a presentation of awards thereafter.

All this will be made official and discussed at the next committee meeting.

That's interesting, so series 1 had 6 rounds and series 2 will have 12 rounds

Doesn't make sense to me. Would be good to have 3 series. I don't see what the issue is. 3 series each with 6 rounds simple

Is it because the trophies / plaques are expensive? Wouldn't think so.

Why don't you announce these changes / systems as they are installed?

Explanation would be good.

Ant, I think the confusion is that previously series 1 and 2 went for the alloted number of meetings not from date to date, with all the bad weather we've had this year it worked out that series 3 would be 3 or 4 rounds, confusion is that on the website the results do show rained off meets as being part of a series,
I'm sure the minutes of the relevant commitee meeting will explain
Cheers
Steve

Thanks Steve

All in all, I am really impressed with how creative and passionate the committee is. How I have seen a heathy growth in culture, spirit and racing at Ryde. The commitment to evolving the track throughout the year, special mention to the Hill.

That's why I am surprised at such a decision. I think it needs to be 3 seasons, for all the members that have moved up to mod within the last 2 meetings.

Keep me updated with the minutes and let me know what the secretary was wearing at the meetings.

Cheers
Ant

The main reason we had to change the rounds was because of the re-run at Maitland and the State Titles both being held on our Sunday race days and because of the lack of interest in Saturday racing. It was a choice between an 11 round series and a 4 round series, so we opted for the longer rather than the shorter. It kinda seemed pointless to run a 4 round series, because if it rained once it would be 3, twice and it would be the best of two rounds.

It had nothing to do with trophies and everything to do with practicalities. We do however intend to run only two series next year, for a number of reasons that will be outlined in the next newsletter due out next month.

I hope this explaination makes sense.

Aaahhh Lemmy, brings back such fond memories. I used to live with a Glaswegian (sic), alcoholic, philosopher in Canberra and one night he suggested we go to the Cotter Dam Pub (read very small country pub) to see Motorhead play. I assumed he was joking and he really meant a Motorhead cover band, but no Motorhead were really playing there with an audience that was virtually exclusively bikies and us. Anyway long story short we ended up drinking ourselves to oblivion with Lemmy (nice guy, good with the ladies), but I left at about 3am with a sure thing and bailing Henry out of the local lock-up the next afternoon. I never did find out how he ended up there or how he knew Lemmy, but a memorable night (well what I do remember) regardless.

The DB is set to go, except for a spur with the appropriate number of teeth.
