1/10 ELECTRIC ON ROAD TIRE PRICE WATCH

HI ALL,

With the current financial crisis in full swing money is getting tighter. I thought I would try this thread.

The idea is for members to post up what brand tire, and where they got them from, and how much they paid for them. This way we will all know what is a fair price and who is doing a good deal at the time. With so many tire retailers its easy to get lost! Sort of like fuel watch:lol: Just an idea anyway!

Dealers feel free to post tire specials on this thread as well.

Tyre

Most of the tyres I use are from "Event" driven and I suppose they are priced below retail.

I run on much more 32s. They get expensive as our track is quite harsh on tires. I am looking at buying rubber only from now on, instead of glued on rims. More work, but about a $15 saving per set I have found.

www.rctyres.com sell sorex for $11 a pair they are the cheapest around

I have found RC MART sell much more 32s for $39 delivered or $29 delivered without rims.

They are the Much more sweep tires Marco, not the Much More Absolutes that we are using with excellent success at the club

When I started racing takeoff 27s were the go and we were able to buy a set for $25 -$30

Mini

Hi Guys,

I Run the M 03 and Use the spice 36 tyres which arent too cheap.

work out to $52 a set of four.

I think some clubs need to implement Control tyres and buy in bulk and sell them to members.

I know there is at least 1 guy running 60 ds which are about $30 a Pair plus inserts which is just too pricey.

It also levels the playing field then and leaves it to Setup and driving.

I know how tight it is and is even tighter now that where i worked had to tighten their belt and lay off staff.

any way just my 2 cents worth.

Cheers

Daza

Daza,
I have also tried the 60d's and didn't like them. I also managed to run the fastest lap at both the last two meets last meet with Team Power 36's, and the meet before with 32's, so I wouldn't consider the 60d's give any unfair advantage that needs to be ironed out.

I gave my 60d's to a guy, who loved them and was running up the front, and they didn't show any signs of wear from a whole meet.

Also the mini tires last for at least three meets, so it isnt so much of a problem if a set of tires cost alittle more when divided by at least three.

Anyway, the tyres are only $18 a pair plus rims and inserts, so not sure where the 30 a pair was from! Total with rims and insetrst is 51.50 from Feral, cheaper than your tyres!!

I think you would find that different tyres suit different styles, and people should be able to choose, however the people that can drive would still be winning if there was a control tyre.

When was the last time you ordered? I don't think he's buying anymore since the dollar went south

RCMADMAN 02-20-2009 04:59 PM

I think your right mate. His whole webesite is sold out of sorex!

Good point Ben. Mini is all about consistant driving. Tires play a small part. The top guy at our club has no secrets, no bling shit. He just drives smooth as a babys but!

RCMADMAN 02-20-2009 05:08 PM

Does anyone have any opinions on the Xenon brand tires? They seem cheap at $20 for a full set from Ferals.

Tires play the biggest roll on a mini. I would rather run with no oil in my shocks, crappy spring combo and with good tires rather than a prefect mini with crappy tires
