just an update on activities

We have been testing the slash's with the VXL brushless system on 11.1v lipos - wow! Even with increased pinion gear to 23 teeth the thing pulls power wheelies. Amazing that it can pull a wheelie when its already at about 50kph half speed. Give it a boost from there and up come the front wheels. Haven't clocked it via GPS yet but it seems to be running at about 100kph.

We have a Collingwood football club family day expo Sunday week and teh surface is medium length plush grass (at their ovals). Not sure if stock titan motor would cope to well with that.

Anyone know if the VXL is as prone (or less) to damage from longer grass type resistance? It has heaps more torque so you would think its ok?? Dont want to trash $1000 in brushless motors for one day before the GP.

PS we will be running the brushless slashes in training mode for the GP - brings it back to about the same as the standard titan motor speed.

The sideways team were playing around and testing some materials for the F1 GP rock crawling course. Only beta trials here and there are many changes to be made to our methods but it was a lot of fun anyway. We will finalise the demo expo track next week and add some timber trials type driving (including a see-saw).

The venom outlaw (pictured) is an amazing machine for the money. Its quite a bit larger than the AX10 but the 4 wheel steering and crab driving is pretty useful.

Anyway lots of fun.

what sort fo competition level will the rock crawling be? I am actually here from the local RC rock crawling forums www.thecrawlpit.com

We have had some notice that you are going to be opening soon and would like to come down for a look with our crawlers, will this be possible?

When is the opening date?

Opening date will be finalised in a couple of weeks time. Looks like late April if all goes to plan. We'll certainly invite interested parties down before opening to provide some input.

Attached some pics for a promo day at Collingwood football club family day today. Our artificial rocks were very popular. Not necessarily what everyone here is looking for but served the purpose of making it easy and interesting.

Slash's were a hit and the SCX digital slots were also flat out. GP in two weeks!

After much delay the dirt is finally going down. There have been some changes in the plan after feedback from a number of public events so to begin with we will start with two off road / dirt tracks. We will probably have the crawler area setup shortly thereafter. Subject to interest and development we will then add an on road track.

The main dirt track is about 30m x 30m. The secondary track is about 2/3rds this size. There is ample space for spectating, pits etc. The SCX digital slot car track will also be in place.

Dirt is the same used by moto cross events (its actually form the people that do the crusty demons stadium dirt). Im told it has a special bonding agent that eliminates all dust.

I dont have the finer detail yet but the tracks will probably open to enthusiasts first later this month and will initially be on a special introductory discounted basis (probably about $15 per session). The timing system is not AMB but we have gone with the ILAP IR system. Its pretty good an only requires a spare RX port to plug into. Can go through clear lexican no problems and works flawlessly. We will sell these for about $60 and they may be available for hire.

The facility will be starting with a little less glamour than originally planned (with on road tracks and some other items). Even so it will be a pretty nice environment to practice and race in - especially during the melbourne winter.

Any special requests post them up here and i will pass them on for consideration.

That would be awesome. Hopefully there will be some sort of "debut" race meeting/practice day that will require racers? If so , I'd put my hand up to attend

Cheers
