Electronics for a car.
I have a purchased a Hot Bodies Cyclone S Chassis and was wondering whether it would be possible to kit it out with electronics for $275 for 540 class. If you have any recommendations for me they are very welcome and much appreciated.
I do intend to use Lipos. |
540 motor cost about $25-$30
esc new about $100 at least 2 lipo batts $85 x 2 min lipo charger $100 needs balancer you must use a lipo charger you can not use ni mi only charger hope this helps:tire::tire: |
Does help thanks except that I need a radio as well and I already have a 540 motor x 2.

Yes you do need a Radio the only thing I can sugggest is buy the best you can.
If you are going to race a cheap radio might sound good but you wont be able to make fine adjustments . Have a look at Australia sale/trade section someone could sell a second hand radio with receiver . Good luck |
I think my budget is a little low and so I will have to at least make it $400 to buy some decent electronics. Ouch this is really going to hurt my bank account. I already spent $225 on the chassis.

Firstly you'll need a speed controller ($100-$350) and then you'll need some radio gear ($100-550). If you think you'll be in rc for a while then spend as much as you can on a radio (300 or so will get you a decent one). you'll only need a brushed speedo for 540 (150 will get a good speedo) but when/if you jump up to stock you'll need a brushless speedo (300). It all really depends on how long you think you'll be staying in rc. Drew. |
It'll be on and off. I want to get the cheapest decent stuff because then once I have more time I will probably get into it more but right now the cheapest decent stuff.

Buy 2nd hand. Most people on here know what they are doing and look after their gear, and buying mid spec gear you'll be able to grab a real bargain
|
I don't know what to look for though. What do I want to know about an ESC?
What do I want to know about a radio set? |
Speedy
I know others might dissagree but why not try a Hobbywing 60A speedy. Admittedly it is brushless only so you would need a b/less motor. You can buy the 60A for about $80.00 on rctech from Harris and maybe Ferral. I am sure you could but a roar legal motor for a similar amount so for about $160-$180 you can get a starter kit and the esc will handle down to about 8t for when you want to go to full stock/superstock.
I have 2 of these for offroad and they have been very good. Terry |
I am intending to run 540 and was thinking along the lines of the Team Wave TB30 ESC from ferral batteries.
Anyone know if its any good? |
Got my system sorted. :D
Thanks for all the help. |
