Spec tyres for Mini
Hi - I am curious to know what spec Mini tyres are being used for the event?
I am in the other SA at the bottom of Africa and only picked up on the Ride 60D tyres (36 degree front and back for asphalt in my case) after seeing them as a pre-glued spec tyre for a couple of the Aus events. Best move I ever made so I like to keep close tabs on the developments in Aus.
The local Kzn folk raised an eyebrow at my improved performance but seem content to ignore my pleas that it is all in the Ride 60D tyres....
Cheers
Dave

Dave, the Ride 'Inch-ups' are Spec Mini tire in our sister State NSW, but are not used here in Victoria.
The vast majority of people here run 55mm OD tires (Sweep, Spice. Team Powers etc) so we specced only the OD, not the Brand.
We exclude 60mm tires because they have an inherent 9-10% gearing advantage against a 55mm tire which we deemed unfair. So it's either all 55mm or all 60mm. In this case - 55.

Spec tyres for Mini
Thanks Tony
I would have to concede that (my Ride 60D shod MWB really gallops on our back straight) although also as a fan of the Team Power 55m, it would be no hardship run same
Cheers

NOTICE FOR ALL MINI RACERS
(Victorian only - other states can choose to adopt if they wish)
Effective immediately - the YEAH RACING TAMC-023 Gear Differential is banned from use.
As standard this differential has one tooth LESS than the original, thereby raising the gearing. An optional 39 tooth (same as original) gear has been released but the difficulty in scrutineering this item (the chassis needs to be split) has led us to believe that the most effective and simplest route would be to ban it outright.

Wouldn't it be just easier to amend the 'Gearing' rule to read :-
Gearing: 16, 18, 20 tooth pinions only. 39 tooth differentials only. Therefore, the minimum FDR is 5.79.
Then that would cover "speed gears", diffs with less than 39 teeth and anything else that crops up in the future.
Just my 2c.

This is an interim measure to stop people rushing out to buy one (I know you already did).
The rules will need to be re-written soon anyway to accommodate the M07 with whatever gearing it needs.
