Quick question in regards to the M-05 and the rule book.
Is it OK to leave the plates where the receiver and ESC mount off or not.
The parts highlighted in yellow for those playing at home.
I've seen many people do it but was wondering if its actually allowed in the rules or not. As technically is not "assembled as per instruction manual"

just a note on the rule book. Bodies............
yet again this is a grey area.
would you guys allow a Nissan Sylvia S15 body that overhangs 5-6 cms either end of the chassis to run ?
the only rule i see for bodies is.......... must be 2 door , and no 12th scale wedge or canam bodies allowed. this leaves the door wide open and to me the Sylvia body is a sports car Coup'e . you allow one, then more will follow then the class doesnt look like mini's anymore.

Paul,
the receiver and esc trays on the M05 are treated the same as the transponder mount. They exist only to provide a mounting point for components and are not an integral chassis component. And as such their use is generally considered to be 'optional'
Patto,
S15 is 100% legal. It comes as a Factory Tamiya body so it can hardly be banned. Your concerns about suddenly everyone starting to run shells like this I believe are unfounded. People raise this potential issue about a lot of shells and it rarely happens.
The body rules are deliberately 'vague' so as to encourage a diversity of shells as opposed to the formless blobs that proliferate in TC's.

Thought so Tony just wanted to check.
Also about the body shells. It was interesting hearing the talk about Andy's shell at the nats and how it should be banned. But no mention of the cars further down runnin the same shell. They all seemed to be legal all of a sudden.

Unfortunately Lue, 'looking crap' is a somewhat subjective term, and hardly something we can base a set of rules on.. .
i.e. I hate the horrendous Golf and Volvo shells from Team Titan, but they fit the rules...

Is there a significant difference in handling between the S and M wheel bases? Tried my M05 out last weekend and had all sorts of problems, narrowed a lot down to not checking a diff from a used mini I bought (3 Racing gear diff filled with Blutac) and springs but seemed to like to oversteer coming out of a right hand corner.

My guess is the blutac isn't helping your cause.
