I don't have a problem with modern pocket cars, like the Yaris and the Jazz. Still are tall little front wheel drive squirts. I agree on booting 1/12th saloons and door chocks. And limiting the bodies to Tamiya genuine articles is a bit restrictive, considering the tiny amount of aero advantage in the general shape of these bodies is practically irrelevant. Also, availability and freedom of expression is what's important, as well as keeping bums on control towers (keeping people interested) It's keeping the appearance of these as a 1/10th sub 1300 cc mini car class is what is important (to me).

I've put a Chevron Monster Mini* on mine, because I think it embodies Mini racing, but I know a few clubs would send me packing. I have left the wing off (so far), until I start racing again, and see what's allowed.

No-one can boot you for having a Monster Mini now...

But I know what you mean - having that wing on the back seemed to scare people, they were convinced it had massive downforce.

When it fact it does f**k-all....

I'm certainly looking forward to some cool bodyshells hitting the tracks now.

Badmuthatrucker 12-02-2008 02:22 AM

:D I'm liking the sound of that.

I don't know if the laws of physics have changed in the last 12 years, but I know from running a Tamiya FF Civic in the Tamiya class (and collecting a couple of championships along the way) at HRCCC in the mid 90s, fronties prefer less downforce at the rear, anyway.

* Since that track was made for 1/8th, and the immense length of the straight, we ran out Tamiya class on proper 27 turns.

Personally I don't find any difference between long and short wheelbase, I choose the SWB purely because the original mini looks so much better then the new BMW and the Swift shell is just not right at all.

It would of been good if ABC had done the Mini van to suit the mid wb, as they were longer in real life. Honestly, I think their Honda Fitz should of been the 225mm wb too, but I guess they wouldn't of fitted their own chassis.
