Personally I think its great that Ford has been winning again after Holden winning 7(?) in a row, but for me I find the V8's a bit boring due to lack of variety of cars. But I also prefer the old cars and enjoy watching old footage of Bathurst from the 70's but it helps being into the old Falcons and the Escorts.
I'm more into Rally and classic rally (modern rally won't ever be as good as rally from the 70's and 80's) and I enjoy watching the Classic Adelaide every year.

But there is nothing quite like driving an old Aussie muscle car

yeah, i should be done wed night, and i still want to take the CAT for a bit of a run to test it out now that it is back up and running again.

Lets start another "Who is better" fight...lol

If Brock had the cars that are available now, I doubt that not many other drivers would have much of a chance. His record in racing is great, and most of that was with cars witout fuel injection, power steering, all that telementary to assist the Team, most of what he had to use to win was his talent and how he could "read" the car and a race.

Now, let the fights begin

It is too hard to compare racers from different era's. There is no doubt that Brock is a legend but it is like trying to compare Senna to Alonso or Doohan to Rossi.

See i like our current version of racing, i like the fact that the drivers can give the cars hell for the whole race and battle on at the end, i do enjoy watching the old bathursts, i have every one of them on tape from 1982, but a lot of it was just down to reliability, and for me thats not entertainment, but each to their own. But yeah i wouldn't go comparing brock to the current crop, that whole era was much less competitve and the HDT were the class of the field by far, its like saying Jim Richards is a master, for sure he's a top racer, but he always chased the factory drives and always ends up in the best car/team in these other categories he runs.

Default V8

only cheap wine comes in 5 litres

but seriously i do like the catergory and they do sound great at full noise. it still amazes me how quick these cars can be round a track considering their weight and low tech set up in the cars so i do watch them. but cause it is australias premier racing catergory ppl go buy a HSV or XRwatever and think they are driving a performance car which is totally wrong. they are just a modern muscle car i.e only good in straight line or doing burnouts. performance is for GTRs 911s EVOs etc etc. hell the V8 supercars are even 3 inches shorter in the wheelbase than the road going versions. not flaming the V8 supercars but just this idea it has put in ppls mind....

Well its an opinion, modern muscle car, performance car, i think people know what they're buying dude, if people are after a powerful V8 4 door sedan, the HSVs and XR8s etc represent fantastic value and space compared to the other vehicles you mentioned, lets not forget a V8 Holden won the Australia drift championship a year or so ago, ford and holden invest in the motor racing to maintain the loyalty for their brand, the rules have the wheel base set, and yeah they have to shorten the cars to make them legal, but its a long bow to draw to conclude that people buy the cars because they think that because they are on the race track they are outright perfomance cars

What drugs are you on?? your really dont know much about the car do you... You should actually have a look at the suspension of a supercar before and understand them and you probably woulndt say that. also they weigh 1300kgs, what do you think the average road car weighs??

ok ok, maybe i was being a bit harsh. A mate of mine works for a workshop that builds sport sedan race cars so compared to them they are a bit low tech but in reality there are pretty tech cars. but i wouldnt get that excited bout the coil over suspension they have. but brakes and gearbox choice they use is up there. also 1300kg is pretty heavy for a racecar but for a big four door with heaps of cage isnt too bad....
