27 Turn Motors

What 27 TURN motor is best to use with brush & roll out combinations?
I use a monster motor ,28 -27 roll out 2400 batteries (i race in sydney ) but i don't
know how the quick guy's go so fast
any help , secrets & where to buy will help.
Thanks

Please tell us what track that you want to race at ???

eastern creek & forestville ,my car is an evo 3
reason why i asked was is there a better engine to
use than the monster. my driving is ok ( i really mean just ok)
but the way some cars jump out of corners & still top speed
is amazing.
to ask for secrets might have been a bit much, just a bit of
advice from racers would be great
thanks

I can't comment on Forrestville, but I don't think the settings would be too far different.
At Eastern Creek, set your roll out at around 32mm to start with and play with it from there. Your motor selection is Ok as long as it is well maintained (brushes & com)
The biggest secret I believe to stock is in the cars corner speed.
Meaning the right tyres and suspension settings.

Are you saying to gear a monster at 32mm for eastern creek? Or was that for motor's in general?

If so, i will have to try that.

Also, any secrets on how you got soooo much corner speed at the Winter Nats :D

Gear the moster stock in the low 30's mm to get good speed as you will almost be doing full speed around the whole track.
The monsta is excellent.

Just use the kit setup of the evo 3 and maintain your motor and batteries and you should have no trouble, just get a good line and drive well.
Usually if you are lacking speed it is your motor (or gear ratio), after that it's probably your batteries.

It's one thing to spend alot of money to get good equipment but it's another to maintain it and stay fast.

Most of the fast guys at eastern creek use 3000's and 3300's.

Then you must decide with foam or rubber tires. There are alot of battles with this topic but its just up to you...

What would be the maximum roll out you would need on the Eastern Creek track? Im trying to decide whether i have to build the Assassin in Single or Double belt.

I think i ran a 33mm. Depends on other things too....like equipment and driving style.

start at 30mm and work it up...if you find 30 is too much then fix up your motor with new brushes and comm...if its still bad then go less mm but im pretty sure if you use below 30 then you will be too slow...and there is something wrong with your motor.

;)

Just listen to what Old fart sais and you will be fine..

being fast is all about corner speed.. and having a good setup.
then you can work on your motor tuning but all we do is pull them out of the packet and drive them.

Thanks

Thanks to everyone who responded to my question.
its clear i just have to get the best out of what i've got
& practice.
Sorry another question.
what shock oil would be best to start with front & back
then the change it would have on the car changing to thicker or
thinner oil .
evo 3
thanks

Shock oil can be a bit of personal thing, Personally i prefer to
run anywere between 10wt to 20wt(huge difference LOL).
some people i talk to run around 50wt, but a couple of things
to take note is that running thin oil will help the car change
direction fast! and also ride bumps a bit better.
but running thicker oil can settle the direction change and weight distribution( if twitchy )
and also supposed to increase corner speed( not a major difference )
I hope this helps u out.;)

oil is to dappen the springs, generally harder springs thicker oil, oil only effects entry and exit. Listen to Fastol because he is faster than me.....

414m2 09-18-2003 03:30 AM

really adz, that low?

I just changed from 80wt (too much) to 40wt and there is massive difference. But i also got a new body at the same time....so i guess the result is a bit of both.
I use the same oil front and back.

adz 09-18-2003 06:34 AM

If my memory serves me correct u use to use the stratos 2.0 or
the 300m chrysler and if you have changed to the new alfa you
will notice a bigger difference with handling just by changing
bodys more so than changing from 80w to 40w shock oil.
The other thing to consider is how efficiant your shocks work.
For example if you were to run the normal plastic tamiya cva shock
set and compare them to TRF alluminium/teflon type to get a similar feel you would need to run totaly different oil weights, around 50w in the plastic and 25w in the alloy type as a guess, purley because one works better that the other.
Which may be the case why i can use a light oil, as i'm using the alloy serpent shock bodys.
