Need Help with a Mini T
Hi guys,
I have just bought a Mini T. It won't go very fast. Is this because it is just running on 4 AA batteries, if I put a lipo in it will it run better? Cheers Michael |
It will defiantly run a lot faster with a 7.4V LiPo like this one http://www.losi.com/Products/Feature...rodId=LOSB9830 I've also seen them using 11.1V LiPo's and it was really fast. You can also run a high kv brushless motor.

You could also try a 6 cell 2/3 A NiMH pack. That way you probaby wouldn't need a dedicated LiPo charger (if you're not running them already). They have plenty of go with those type of cells.
It also depends on what motor you're running. The kit motor with no labelling doesn't have much go. The Losi Speed Motor is a bit better, but wears out quickly. The Trinity Mini Monster is a bit quicker again and has replaceable brushes. If you want to go insame and destroy your gearbox while your at it, a brushless system will have plenty of get up and go. |
a year or so ago Racing Lines did a full option mini t build, we had a 11.1v + 4900kv BL motor and it was insanely fast and basically undrivable!:D:D with the standard motor and a 7.4v lipo i reckon they would be a real hoot!:nod:

EDIT - Would a lower or higher kv motor be better? I understand the higher kv gives you more top speed, but wouldn't it smooth out the bottom end a bit more? Excuse me if I'm wrong, first electric car. :nod: |

Excuse me if I'm wrong, first electric car. :nod: The driveability issue would be related to it being a small, light 2WD truck with a motor doing almost 55,000rpm. The wheelbase and track width are similar (don't know the exact figures) so they tend to be on the twitchy side. A motor that doesn't rev so high is going to give you a more driveable truck and you may end up going ultimately faster and be more enjoyable than putting in a motor that is stupidly fast and uncontrollable. |

Thax for all the information guys, I hope to get a losi pack for the mini T, that should make it go alot faster

can i offer a substiute?
rather than buying a random pack with a brand-name, (all your paying for is the "losi" sticker.... go get a decent pack (flight power, neu energy, etc.. anything with enderland cells. OR get a higher performance (cheap) pack like this: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...0C_Lipoly_Pack basically for 1/2 the price (and cheap as shipping, $3 if you feel like waiting or less than $10 for 3 day) you get a 30C dischage (there are much cheaper 20C batteries, like $10! with similar dimensions (not as wide, but deeper... someone has fitted it into a mini lst2 so im guessing it would fit in the mini t depending on how its battery arangement goes... there are hundreds of lipos for not much money, but these take the award with a 3 month (thats a LONG time, if the lipo is still going then its gonna keep going for a lot more cycles...) anyway, just a suggestion edit: i forgot to mention look at the wires coming out of that losi pack... u will want deans on your connectors, as those 16ga wires wont handle almost 50A! |
