Advice
Hi all,
I've got a question because I need some advice. I'm totally new to RC racing, and I really want to get into this hobby. Can you please all help me out to get me into the RC-world. - What to buy (Electric or Petrol) - What to buy (Brands etc.) - Where to start Hopefully you can help me out with this, and can make my decision, to actually start in this. Ofcourse more advice is welcome. Thank you very much for your help!! speedy |
What to race
Find a club in your area and have a talk to the people who race there. Whether you race EP or GP, buy the same brand of car that they race with. It will help you with set up and also supply of spare parts.
If you are in Sydney, come down to Sydney Model Autosports (SMA). We are located at Holbeach Ave at Tempe and are at the Jets Sports Club. We race both EP & GP on road every second Sunday and EP every second Tuesday. Our next race meet is on Tuesday week (20/11). www.smaracing.org Regards, Andrew Barr Club Secretary SMA |
You will get heaps of answers to your questions here and most of them will be different. The best thing for you to do is exactly what Andrew has said.

Thnx for your answers. I live near Bondi Junction. So if you can help me where the nearest club is, that would help me out big time.
Thnx again for this!! |

Thnx again for this!! As mentioned previously, we are racing on Tuesday week (20/11) and we start at 7:30pm (EP only). Come down and see Matt or myself. Alternatively, we will be racing the following Sunday (25/11) and racing starts at 10:30am (EP & GP). We are linked with the Jets sports Club so we are the only RC club in Sydney that has a bar, bistro and full club facilities. www.smaracing.org |
Thank you all for your help.

For off-road, try St Ives (www.stivesrccc.com.au) or Ryde.
As a vague answer I would suggest trying electric first, as it's easier to setup and maintain. There are great ready-to-run (referred to as RTR) packages that take the guesswork out, and are easily upgradeable. |

I am from moorebank raceway we race GP on road 1/10 and 1/8 scale we are organising a beginners day again hopfully before the end of the year we are starting to get a good following in the novice/pullstart class as the guys before have stated look around at what you want to race go to the race meet see what they are driving A handy hint see the top drivers of the club they usaully always have cars for sale in mint condition as they always upgrade I know at our club some guys are upgrading every few months so you can get a fairly new car cheap and most of the time they will give you an engine or a motor hope this helps :tire::tire::tire: www.moorebankraceway.com |
There's also North Ryde for electrics on and off road- www.sydneyrc.com
They have a rental car you can use for the day, as long as you let them know first. |
