Assoc copy of the BJ4 worlds edition... gee I thought they would of learned not to copy after the d4 debate.......

cantona 07-10-2007 11:01 PM

Trod- Jconcepts have been working with them the whole time! LOL ill say this now to hopefully save anyone else embarassment....

Eggyolkeo 07-10-2007 11:14 PM

It's all sounding and looking good. Can't wait to see it with the bonnet up :)

I'm keen to hear about the future of the BJ4 too - ie if J Concepts will continue to produce and develop it.

It's funny as well how guys are talking about it at the track, and some 4WD virgins seem more comfortable considering the class now because Associated will offer a car (because they may have or have had an RC10). Funny in a good way.

I remember one meeting that there was maybe 9 4WDs in mod, and 8 of them were BJ4s. Those times are long behind us now!

mharlow 07-10-2007 11:24 PM

Just another D4 copy.

No seriously it all makes sense now. Jason, Brad and Associated have been working towards this for four years now. No wonder they were not impressed that Hot Bodies got the jump on them.

This should really get the 4wd Offroad scene back to where it should be as the premier class.

Apparently not. I thought the same thing based on comments made by one of the AE guys but was told in no uncertain terms that I had got it wrong

According to the J Concepts guys, AE have merely bought the rights to the design, and changed a few parts to make the car easier to mass produce.

So Associated have done no more R&D then Hot Bodies then. Could this be right after all the D4 bashing?

The press release clearly states that project started in a cooperative effort in 2003.

New Product. For Immediate Release: 7/10/07
The Factory Team B44 project came
to life in 2003 as a cooperative effort
between Team Associated and
J Concepts’ Jason Ruona and Brad
Reelfs.

Eggyolkeo 07-11-2007 12:21 AM

So maybe the difference is that they 'bought' the design!

I wonder if Losi is going to respond with a new development anytime soon....? They probably don't need to though, they still seem to have a very strong following with their XX4 Worlds.....

Im sure everyone will draw their own conclusions, im just looking forward to getting mine, especially after how good my BJ is at the moment. For BJ owners out there, its quite possible you may be able to upgrade your car to a B44. Dont quote me on this, I dont really know, but its a possibility. I wouldnt imagine too much geometry would be different.

jelly- Im not exactly sure how it will be pronounced, in my discussions its never come up. Im sure the 44 sounds good, double 4..... i guess its up to marketing to decide its officially pronounced.

Ive got your one way here too mate, do you want me to send it or give it to you at the vics?

I don't mean to split hair here matt but after all the bashing that the guys from HB took this is a direct quote from Brad Reelfs

Kdub's statement about Jason and me knowing about the car from the beginning was in reference to the B44. We reached an agreement with Associated and sold the design for the BJ4 Worlds Edition. We also worked with Associated to make the changes that are included on the B44, so we have known about the B44 from the beginning.

Kdub's statement does not mean that Associated designed the original BJ4 and BJ4 Worlds Edition. Both the original BJ4 and the BJ4 Worlds Edition were designed by JConcepts.

There were only two prototype BJ4's at the 2003 World Championships. If Associated had developed the original BJ4, don't you think Mark Pavidis and Billy Easton would have been driving them instead of Jason and me?

44 doesn't really make sense but double 4 maybe.

vics is fine. my one way seems to be ok.

Awesome news, lets just hope this sparks some enthusiasm from Losi to build another 4wd in the near future.

I'll be sticking with my trusty BJ4 for the time being
