I think THE most important thing is as Massive says "Preheat the engine" I use a heat gun and get the motor up to near 100 deg C before I put it on the starter box. This stops it "pinching" at TDC

yes, preheating is very important and eases the start up alot too!

i did the quick methord and my con rod snapped on my sh 28 but after doing some reserch i found out sh 28 have a problem with the con rod snapping i rebult it and and broke it in the slow way but i never replaced piston and sleeve but my engine is running fine now and serpsingly qucker than befor but i will admit i no abit about nitro engines i only no what i no thoug going on forums and taking my engine apart can u plz tell me if i have done some things wrong in rebluding my engine thanks :p

Only problem checking the temperature using a temp gun is that they are inaccurate.
Three of us put our own temp guns to one engine and all had different readings as far out as 20deg.
So which one of the three was the nearest true reading, we never knew.
