eletric or nitro

hi all
i want to start racing 1/10 on road but im not sure whether to get nitro or eletric which would be better?

Everyone will have thier favourite, you wont get a definaitive answer here :)

Your best bet is to check out both and make up your own mind, things like which class is most popular at the track that is closest and what your local hobby shop specialises in are the common things that may sway your decision.

just go with whatever interests you the most. you must have some sort of preference in your mind as to what you would prefer to race. weather it's the noise of nitro, or the cleaness of electric, there must be something you prefer. go with that. don't bother choosing on rational grounds like cost, they both can be as expensive as hell, and both have easy entry level positions to enter the hobby through, and there are tracks suited to all types and levels of racing.

get something cheap but NOT nasty. look at the for sale forum for excellent second hand cars. if you truly enjoy the hobby you can always upgrade, but don't bother spending $3g to later find out it isn't your thing. As a beginner, just focus on having fun.

whichever you choose, parts availability in your local area can also be a factor when making your decision, go to the local track/s where you intend to race & talk to the locals there & dont be affraid to ask them questions im sure they will be happy to give advice :)

BE WARNED, once you start you can't stop, it gets to your blood.

also, bear in mind anyone who you may inflict yourself upon, ie, anyone who lives under the same roof as you. eg if you intend to do your mechanincs or rebuild a motor on the dining room table, or run in a motor while watching TV maybe electric is for you (as mentioned it is much cleaner, and quieter, with no exhaust fumes). or on the other hand when the guys at work ask you what you did on the weekend, will you confess to playing with battery powered toy cars (most non-rc people think that nitro is cool, but all electric cars come from Tandy and only take AA cells :ha: )

as mentioned, go for a qualilty, used, complete second hand setup (about $500ish) and see if you like it. if you dont, you can probably sell it for about what you paid for it, if you do like it, upgrade... ;)
