Memory Lane

Having to a clean up to get more room so I started to go through the old magazines from years past. I found a number one edition of Dirt and Track with an article from RC favourite son Ray Wood on racing with 4 years experience under his belt racing a Tamiya.
The very first Tamiya Cup back in 1988 were Bob Beniston was racing in Open Class and came 5th.
Another with an article with the very first owner of Castle Hill Hobbies Alan McLeay back in 1988 who started Castle Hill Off-Road track. It will take a while to go through the old Australian memorabilia, but going to get rid of the American an UK stuff. Taking down to the track on Friday for all the Castle Hill boys. But there is some nice black mail stuff in there.

Cheer

Yeah, still coming fifth. That was the days, i was the only one to run 7 cells with the motor turned right up, it just had wheelspin all over the place. Mr Tamiya came with the first Avanti that was released some time later. It was held at Thornliegh Bowling Green with a few holes and jumps. The young guy that won the trip to Japan in VW Buggy (with the big wheels and Frof chassis) only bought the car the day before the ACT round was held, i told him it would be a good time for him, he took out that race, got the trip to Sydney about 2 weeks later and won the trip for himself and his Mum (Recent widow, Tamiya paid) so it was one that the good guy came first. I think from memory that a male won the race for open but he has now jumped the fence and is now a Ms from SA. It was a good time but it has taken me 10 months to get back into the speed and handling of the new cars after 15 years out of it. Aussie Bob and proud to be

Yes I didn't realise Gary (now Jaye) White first, Greg Collins second and Brad Martin third at the the old Hornsby track. The drivers that went were Gary White, Greg Peters and Mark Todd.

Hey TJ, are you able to bring this to the next meet? It would be a good laugh!

I have some old racing lines stuff back in its hay day of Bormac.

How long, I don't know when nitro ran title events but I think back in 82-83 with 12th scale I have a UK mag with 1/8 nitro and 12th scale back in 83
