Help - U.S Powerpoints
I bought some stuff from America and I bought a rechargeable glow starter not remembering that the american household powerpoints are a different size, can you buy some sort of adaption to plug into a Aussie Powerpoint to make it american???????
Cheers |
Yep. Dick Smiths / Jaycar and most luggage stores carry that kind of thing.
Keep in mind also that USA uses 110volts so check your power pack can handle up to 240volts before using it here. |
I just checked on the charger and it says Input: 117ac/6ghz
|
Would it be possibly to just cut the charger off and put a new australian charger on????
Cheers |
No we use 240 volts they use 120 volts. You will kill your stuff just using an adaptor you need a transformer, much more expensive and heavy.
|
yeah, sorry dude, you cant just change the plug, if you had bought it from the uk, they also use 240volts, so you can just change the plug over. If the appliance is designed to use 110v, there is no conversion other than getting a 240>110 transformer, which will be way more $ than the starter is worth.
probably your best bet is to try and resell it to an american to get some of your money back. If you buy anything from O/S, your BEST bet it to make sure it runs on 12v DC. |
just fly over to America once a month to charge it up . Beats going to the LHS and buying a glow charger worth $10
