St Ives RC Club
Welcome to 2022. St Ives RC Car Club first event for 2022 should be next Sunday 23rd Jan.
Will just need to watch the weather reports this week and see how we progress.
Will update during the week re plans.
Hope some people got some new toys for Xmas.
Will look at opening 2022 Club Memberships after we finalise details for the AGM. Will update shortly.

Every time I think the weather looks like it is improving, within a few hours it rains again.
At the moment a decision re racing for Sunday will be made sometime Sat afternoon. Hopefully by then the forecast will be a little clearer and the track condition will be inspected.
Plans will be as usual for much of race day.
Taking entries from about 8.45am and get racing by 9.30am.
Race entry fee is $10 for 1st class and $5 for 2nd class.
2 classes will be the max entries we take for each person as otherwise managing marshalling numbers becomes too hard, especially if we have to keep race numbers down to avoid too tight spacing on the drivers stand.
Due to Covid numbers in the community we ask that anyone with any cold/ flu like symptoms stays away. Also if isolating or deemed to be a close contact, please stay away. We will have many other meetings during the year to come and play.
Additionally we will be asking drivers to wear face masks when driving on the stand, While we are outdoors and this is much safer than indoors, the spacing between drivers can get a little close.
The wearing of masks is to protect your fellow racers in the event you may have contracted Covid and could unwillingly pass it to others.
Marshalling and around the pit area we will just ask people to maintain at least 1.5m distance from others.
Final call to be made Sat afternoon when hopefully weather is clearer.

Ok, so the forecast is 10% chance of 0.2 - 0.4 mm of rain.
That's pretty low (and about what today said) and hopefully the cloud coming from SA will stay away till Monday.
So we will plan to race.
As stated before, entries from 8.45am and racing from about 9.30am. Great if a few people can get there a little early to help with track prep as it will likely need a bit of a clean up.
Again I will ask that people bring face masks to wear on the drivers stand. This is to protect yourself and your fellow racers if someone happens to have Covid but does not know. Club will have a few masks if you forget.
Memberships for 2022 are also open. We will keep the membership at $15. This fee helps the club cover the key costs of rent, insurance and registration. Form attached and I will have a few tomorrow.
The race fees are helping us to build some funds to get more carpet to change and lengthen the track. We will also need to repair some of the wooden jumps in coming weeks.

Thanks to everyone who made it to St Ives today. Managed to get a club day done, even if we did have a few small rain interruptions. Good thing about carpet is that it can recover from the rain reasonably quickly (even if it is real slippery when wet).
Thanks to everyone doing great job with the face mask wearing on the stand.
Next race meet will be the 2nd Sunday in Feb. This will also be our AGM.
Finally, John C, you left your ramps at the track, They are stored in the lock box.

Next club race day
Reminder: As there were 5 Sundays in Jan, the next St Ives RC Car Club race day will be the 13th Feb (the 2nd Sunday in the month).
This will also be the AGM and time to select a committee for 2022.
Memberships for 2022 are also due. Form attached but you can also email the club and I can send out a form. Payment can be made direct to the club from details on the form.

Reminder that we plan to race this Sunday. We also have to do an AGM to sort out this years committee.
So plan is to start to set up for the race day from about 7.30am.
Then we will conduct the AGM from 8.30 to 9am. Then we will take entries and payments and try to get racing at 9.30am.
Weather is suppose to be good/ dry.
If you think you could help out the club in some capacity on the committee please put a hand up at the AGM.
We hope that this year we can try to get a good number of race meetings done. Free of issues with drivers stand and Covid.
It would be nice to be able to spend some time and money on the track this year so if you have suggestions/ ideas, seek me out for a chat.
Hope to see you Sunday. Cheers, Thommo

Unfortunately, the weather has not been kind these past few days. 45mm plus has fallen in St Ives since Wed and it was still raining this afternoon when I was there. Forecast is possible showers overnight and relatively low temps (19 degrees) and tomorrow more possible showers, so with the amount of standing water already in place, I can't see us getting racing in unless we had a miracle.
Race meet and AGM will be held over for 2 weeks.

Hi all,
This Sunday should be our next club day and attempt at the AGM. Presently weather is not looking so good but will watch the progress of the situation and update later.
Great if people can also get their 2022 membership forms in. We have had letter from council with a number of questions and great if we can show strong membership numbers in 2022 after last couple of years (Covid lock downs plus rebuilding drivers stand in 2020).
I've attached a copy of the 2022 membership form and you can email it to the club and send payment direct to clubs bank account.
Hopefully see you Sunday.

Weather is continuing to make racing impossible. Tomorrows club race meet and AGM will be cancelled and we will look to the 2nd Sunday in March (13th) as next likely club day.
Lets hope for some drier weather in 2 weeks.

Wow, what a few days in Sydney.
Don't want to mention the R word so lets just say things may be looking possible re a race meet this Sunday 13th March.
Will see how the coming days pan out and how the track and facility comes up.
Aim to update Fri or Sat (or both).

Subject to final track inspection this afternoon, plan is to proceed with club race day tomorrow. We will postpone the AGM so we can concentrate on getting race meet set up and started, after the prolonged break due to weather.
Will aim to start taking entries from 8.45am and get racing by 9.30am. Anyone there early if you can help out with cleaning the track, much appreciated. Bring your lunch etc., as we will push on to try to get through the day by mid afternoon.

This coming Sunday should be St Ives RC next club day. We will watch the weather closely as present forecast is some days of rain to come. Will update again towards end of the week but hope we can run club meet on Sunday.
Unfortunately the rain looks to be with us again on a Sunday (and beyond). Too wet now and only more rain expected so will make call now that there will be no racing tomorrow (Sunday 27th). Next race meet should be Sunday April 10th.
